I'm pretty confident in saying Josh Allen is playing better right now in this initial stretch of the season than Deshaun Watson has played in any stretch since Clemson.

There's sort of a (not unreasonable) built-in excuse for Watson when he plays poorly because of BoB, but he has some obvious flaws that have come to light over the past season and a quarter - namely his propensity to drop his eyes and immediately bail in the pocket at the first sign of some pressure and try to become superman by running around in circles trying to make a big play downfield. There are a ton of plays I've seen where Watson can step up into the pocket and make an open 5-8 yardish completion but for whatever reason chooses to turn his back to the field, run backwards out of the pocket, dance around for 5-6 seconds before either getting sacked, throwing it out of bounds, or running out of bounds for no gain.

Texans fans may get their wish with BoB out after this year, though, and we'll see how Deshaun looks under new leadership/coaching.

Watson is clearly the better QB. Allen is playing better right now, but Watson is in a freaking god-awful situation in Houston. This shouldn't even be a debate.

But Ravens fans specifically on this site blamed Josh when he was playing in a God awful offensive situation. I'm not gonna stand for this hypocrisy. If you want to say Watson is better due to body of work, fine. Josh does need to prove it longer, but Watson shouldn't be getting any excuses, especially as a vet compared to Josh in year 1-2  who was getting blasted from the Baltimore fan base.

When was Josh Allen in a bad offensive situation?

And yeah, based on their careers, Watson has had higher highs than Allen and is clearly the more talented player. Not really sure how one could argue that.

Have to think this is rooted in your Josh Allen takes from years past in which you made it abundantly clear you're not a fan of the guy. The "high" Allen has reached this year is better than any level of play Deshaun Watson has been at since he was in college. That's just a fact. It's 4 games, and we'll see if it continues, but to say "no one could argue that" about each player's peak up to this point in their careers is patently absurd. Feels like people are just seeing the name "Deshaun Watson" and automatically parroting "oh yeah, for sure top 5 guy way better than Allen".

This question is absolutely up for debate right now, regardless of what you try to say to dismiss it. It's akin to the people in those early 2019 threads that were arguing Baker > Lamar after the first 4 games of that year because they didn't know if Lamar could sustain it and Baker had previously been better than Lamar in their respective rookie seasons - threads that you vehemently argued for Lamar in.

His first year was horrific. He had Robert Foster, fat kelvin, zay jones, charles clay. Ontop of an awful offensive line. Last season he had John Brown, Cole Beasley, and Devin Singletary, before this year I'm sure you would've taken Will Fuller, Randall Cobb, Kenny Stills, David Johnson, and Duke Johnson over those.
