skibrett15
This is diving into the run looks which opened things up for GB on their first 2 TD drives. Bennett was a key part in a lot of these looks, and ultimately was a nice piece of the RZ scheme that Mac ran vs Chicago man coverage. The other main concept here was the flat/slant route combo that GB ran to the offensive left side in the red zone. 1-10-GB 49(12:36) 88-T.Montgomery up the middle to CHI 40 for 11 yards (38-A.Amos). Bennett seals the DE, allowing Taylor to get to the 2nd level... and ultimately Taylor tackles Ty by accident. (same play) Nice hole here on the cutback after 52 beats Evans inside blowing up the playside. 1-10-CHI 40(11:52) 88-T.Montgomery left end pushed ob at CHI 35 for 5 yards (23-K.Fuller). Bennett lines up in the backfield here, offset to the right. Bennett cuts the backside DT, and actually gets the backside LB as well. Nice block by Jordy on LB Jones makes the play. 2-5-CHI 35(11:15) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers pass short left to 18-R.Cobb to CHI 31 for 4 yards (59-D.Trevathan, 23-K.Fuller). Bennett is open here on a short-intermediate route combo with Cobb, and 59 is already leaning over to Cobb. Poor throw by Rodgers forces cobb to jump to make catch and then he has to make a move and does well to get 4 rather than 1 or 2. 3-1-CHI 31(10:43) 12-A.Rodgers pass short right to 80-M.Bennett to CHI 5 for 26 yards (23-K.Fuller). Play of the game. Single WR set, play action hard fake to williams. Bennett sells it enough, and D!ckrod sells it well also. Defense keys on Kendricks short, and Rodgers nicely hits Bennett for a big gainer. Bennett gets lost in the play action scuffle. 2-5-CHI 5(9:49) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers pass short right to 17-D.Adams for 5 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Bennett motions in to the slot presnap, setting up for route combo with Nelson. Looks like this is an RPO given how the line blocks hard. Ball goes to Adams on other side of field on double slant combo. On left side, Bennett/Nelson running flat/slant combination which could create a rub but didn't really here because of defensive alignment. Good decision by Rodgers to find the right side of the play to attack, and good on Mac for creating two different combos which attack 2 different alignments. Here, Chicago is playing close to the receivers which are on the LOS, and off the others. They aren't switching. Cobb runs into his guy on a slant, and Adams just follows him in. If Chicago was close up on Bennett and off on Jordy, this play creates a rub to that side. 1-3-CHI 3(9:41) (Shotgun) 30-J.Williams left guard to CHI 2 for 1 yard (59-D.Trevathan; 96-A.Hicks). Same basic RPO concept as the Adams TD. Rodgers hands it off. If it were a pass, play is to the right side given no helping safety. Williams gets stoned when McCray gets beat inside. Same Bennett motion from stacked into the slot. Because of defensive alignment here (both CHI dbs playing up tight) Bennett fully walls off BOTH DBs and Nelson would have a walk in TD here: -2-CHI 2(9:03) 12-A.Rodgers pass incomplete short left to 80-M.Bennett. Bennett gets his RZ target. This is a 3 TE 2 RB set on soft play action. Marty runs right into his defender (Deon Bush), and walls him off, putting a direct line between himself and Rodgers. Bennett is clearly "open" in that the defender has no play on the ball. This should be a pitch and catch TD, but the ball is way too safe and way too high. 3-2-CHI 2(8:59) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers pass short middle to 18-R.Cobb for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Up to now, Mac has run that flat/slant combo or a slant/slant combo. Here on 3rd down he goes no back 2x3 set. Rodgers correctly identifies that the DE is going to move out onto Allison who formationally appears uncovered so he looks to the left. Right side is not the look, but it's a variation of the play on which we saw the double slant for Adams' TD. In this case, Allison, the inside WR is going to break out towards the sideline behind the slanters. I'd expect this to be thrown when Jordy is lined up in that spot. Instead, Cobb and Adams fake the slant/flat route combination (which has been the ONLY route combo on the left till now) and it's Cobb who runs the slant after pretending to pick. Chicago bites really hard and 37 Callahan switches onto Adams when he shouldn't. No one covers Cobb, easy TD.

CWood21
Great work @skibrett15. This is one reason why I'm having a hard time complaining about Martellus Bennett. Sure, the numbers might be quite ordinary, but he opens things offensively.
