Like, I know he’s really good and definitely has a ton of talent but the times I’ve watched him play I haven’t been blown away. He’s a great athlete, it helps a lot on the college level bc he’s often one of the best athletes in the field, that won’t be the case in the NFL when there are better athletes. As I said last year Clemson came back on OSU when they began to run Lawrence on QB draws & zone reads. OSU couldn’t stop their rushing attack last year but, it wasn’t Lawrence’s passing that killed the.

e16bball
Fields got slammed for a bad game or two. Will people climb back on board after a great game (or two)?

You’re right about the year, and we definitely did grow up in a golden era of RBs. Guys like Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas when we were kids and then guys like Marshall Faulk and Jerome Bettis and even Jamal Lewis who felt like the team’s whole offense at times. For me, Najee Harris is the guy who feels like he could carry a team. I don’t know that he’s quite Derrick Henry, but he has that feel as a guy who can bludgeon you over and over over, and yet also somehow still run away from you. He’s a better receiver than Henry too, which gives him a bit of a different dimension. I think because of his size and strength, he has upside that Etienne probably doesn’t. My thing is just that I like Gibson a lot. I think he’s potentially an 1800ish total yard type RB, a Pro Bowl level player. And then we have a good niche player in McKissic for 3rd downs and deploying in the same packages as Gibson. So I just don’t see any major need there. I’d rather invest in the left side of the OL, for example, or in some weapons to loosen up these defenses for Gibson. I’m definitely down to upgrade Barber on Day 3, with somebody like your guy Herbert, a big body with a little more explosiveness. And I grew up with the guys in the late 70s and early 80s and then watched those other RBs right along with you guys.

Thaiphoon
He just stared down Sermon that entire play. Lucky it wasn't picked.
Thaiphoon
Only reason I'm even watching this game is because of the potential picks in the draft. Otherwise, this "playoff" is booooooorrrrinnnnngggg.
e16bball
The lack of weapons is really showing up for Clemson tonight. It’s kinda remarkable that Lawrence has put up these numbers with that kinda talent missing from the team.

The playcalling was nonsensical that set of downs. Why are you throwing two (incomplete) passes when you’re up 3 scores with 10 minutes left and they haven’t been able to stop the run all night?

turtle28
I want nothing to do with Carman, the LT from Clemson in round 2. He’s dropped at least a round for me, he’s been awful tonight and OSU’s DE’s aren’t even that good compared to those they’ve had every other year of the last decade. e16bball
Also, has anybody tanked their draft stock more than Shaun Wade this year? That dude was CB1 for a lot of people coming into the season, and he has been really not good shifting outside. Should have pulled a Rousseau and opted out before he got exposed.
