pf9
The Pro Bowl has the worst reputation of all the All-Star Games of the big 4 sports leagues. The NFL has tried making changes over the years. One change I felt did more harm than good was the move of the game the week before the Super Bowl and eliminating the ability of players on the conference champions to play in it. This gave the game the stigma of being a consolation prize for players on teams who didn't make the Super Bowl. It notably affected Aaron Rodgers in 2012, whose Packers went 15-1 the regular season, became the first team with 15 or more wins to fail to win a playoff game. Though he got off to a hot start in the first quarter, throwing two TD passes, he quickly faded as the AFC caught up. Worse yet, the Giants, the team who beat the Packers in the playoffs, would win the Super Bowl that year. The Giants have only been to the playoffs once since then, 2016 where the Packers beat the Giants in the postseason for the first time since the JFK administration; ironically JFK was assassinated in the same city that is the home of the Cowboys, not only a major rival of the Giants, but who had gone 4-0 in home postseason games against Green Bay at Texas Stadium, while what is now AT&T Stadium was the stage for the Packers' win in Super Bowl XLV. I want the game moved back to after the Super Bowl to eliminate the consolation prize stigma. I'd much rather the NFL not have an All-Star Game rather than one where only 30 teams were were allowed to have players play in it.
