JAF-N72EX Posted October 13, 2020 Share Posted October 13, 2020 Payton is still good at designing short - immediate routes and Brees' arm is still good enough to complete them (this is why Thomas has been able to catch 200 passes a year) and brees' arm is also still good for a long shot once in while, just enough to keep the defense honest. With Brees' arm at this stage in his career you just don't wanna have to force him to make too many deep throws and tire out his arm and that's one thing Payton has done well with him.
