patriotsheatyan
What if Dalton ends up with a passer rating near the league lead and averages around 250 yards per game?
rob_shadows
Probably depends on Dak's progress on his injury but even if Dallas didn't retain Dalton I'm sure he'd get a raise next year with someone if he has a good year.

Do you mean what happens to Dalton, in the future, or what happens with the Cowboys? Because the Cowboys are a mess.

Kiwibrown
He isn't winning this year. Their defense is awful.

No way the Cowboys risk being stuck with that, and no one anyone trades for Dalton at that price tag.

Admittedly made a couple assumptions along the way (Cowboys win a bad division) but I could see it. The bigger issue IMO will be the salary cap, if it goes down I can see both Dallas and other teams go gun shy with their willingness to spend. But a 2015ish season from Dalton + near the league lead in passer rating, is a lot like the year Tannehill just had. RT admittedly had an insane and unsustainable Y/A and AY/A, but he was also at less than 250 YPG. Dalton’s 2015 TD% would have him in the top 5 for last year and in the top 10 this year, just behind Jackson and Mahomes. Stats aren’t 100% indicative of play but they certainly help come contract time. Tannehill got a $29.5M AAV contract, admittedly after two huge playoff wins and it was a re-sign instead of a trade, but I can’t see there being no trade demand for Dalton if he lights it up like that. BayRaider
Dalton is a starter in this league imo, he’ll have a solid year with Dallas. I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs, but I didn’t have them making the playoffs before the season with Dak either.
offbyone
He has the weapons. Might earn himself some money.
Vladimir L
Dallas will run with Zeeke more and defense will prove because of this. They will win the east with an 8-8 record.
SkippyX
Dalton wont do well in this offense. The line will get him sacked often and he is nowhere near as elusive as Dak.
