Jets looking to trade Bell before deadline

The Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Jets are shopping Le'Veon Bell prior to the November 3 trade deadline.

It's unsurprising it came to this after neither Adam Gase nor GM Joe Douglas attempted to put out the flames of any trade rumors for Bell this offseason. The issue isn't whether or not Gase wants to part with Bell's hefty price tag, but whether any organization would even take Bell's guaranteed $8.5 million base salary on. The 28-year-old's contract does at least offer a team-friendly out for $4 million in dead cap space this offseason. The Jets would likely have to move a pick in order to part with the disgruntled running back, who has averaged 3.3 YPC across 17 appearances since signing his four-year, $52.5 million contract.

I'm not sure I can reasonably find a team that needs him.

Wasn't it rumored that the Steelers were willing to make a deal last year?

Back to Pittsburgh for a 6th rounder

That's the best I could think of.

he would be a upgrade over Snell

I would want us to look into it if we have the cap space

I feel like the only loser in this instance is the Jets.    Bell got plenty of $$ for absolutely nothing.

He’s trash and hasn’t been good since like 2015. Every time he was out in Pittsburgh they ran fine without him. He was a good receiving back behind a great line with a good QB and since then he’s lost at least one step.

If a team wants to trade a player, they typically don't have to make a public announcement - you simply pick up the phone and make some calls
When you see an announcement / leak like this one, its often the agent telling other teams to just wait until he is released.

Bell would surely prefer to choose his own new team instead of letting the J-E-T-S call the shots. That contract sucks, Jets will have to toss in a draft pick for somebody to take it on and with the COVID-cap reductions looming on the horizon, I'll be surprised if any team steps up.

Who didn’t see this coming?

Basically from the time he signed the contract and Gase said he wasn’t a fan of it, this relationship was doomed. Plus the Jets OL is hot garbage.
