Is Bobby Belt backing up what I am saying when I complain about 3rd and long passes short of the sticks that stall drives? Maybe we should toss it to one of our WR's and let them make a play instead of checking it down and punting?

Maybe Dalton will let the ball fly

Our OL unable to handle a full on rush the passer approach blitz

It’s more than just one issue. But historically Dak hasn’t been great on 3rd and long. The OL has changed, the WRs have changed, the coaching staff has changed..... The QB and Zeke are the two constants. And 3rd downs are more on Dak.

This was in 2018:

“The secret is out: The Cowboys suck on third down.

Their conversion rate for the whole season is 33.3% (34 of 102). That’s hideous and ranks the Cowboys 28th in the league.”

This was is 2019:

Dak Prescott ranked 3rd-least-aggressive passer in NFL

For quarterback Dak Prescott to solidify himself as a “no doubt about it,” top-tier passer in the NFL, he’s going to have to be aggressive, especially in third-down situations. His tendency to play conservatively has many doubting the mega-contract Prescott is demanding.

And here we are in 2020 talking about it again.

In 2017 and 2018 there were points in the season that he was rated a top 3 aggressive/tight window passer. I would have to go look at the year end numbers.
