Daryl Morey, Rockets Part Ways

It was time for Morey to go, His system isnt working. he did some really great things, but deciding to go all in on Russell Westbrook and then trading Clint Capela and going small....Those things were just terrible. If we had stayed the course, we might have won the championship inside the bubble, especially with the way CP3 played, and having Capela agains the Lakers....we would have at least had a better chance of winning than we did.

I am not too sad to see him go, now we can get a coach that will play offense instead of insisting on all 3s.

it was not Morey making the call on Westbrook lol. some franchise players are better at being franchise players than others

lol come on..fertitta was the one who forced the Westbrook trade.  they hired someone from within to be the gm.,no telling if he will use the same system. morey is a HUGE loss.

I’ve heard it blamed on harden for trading CP3 but I’ve not heard it blamed on feritta. Why would he demand a trade that took on more salary? That doesn’t even make sense. Morey was trying morey things and it blew up in his face.

give him credit though. Only a couple teams in the league can be called a failure when reaching the 2nd round 4 consecutive years.

It was a pretty great run, all things considered. Probably should’ve gotten a championship the year Paul got hurt, but oh well.

rockets honestly could have won 2 titles during his run.  just suck the warriors got in the way and prevented that. these next few years going to be brutal.

Those few Rockets teams would be viewed in a much different light had the NBA been at “normal” levels of competitiveness. Like how the 90s teams you look back upon fondly would’ve bern perceived the same way had MJ not retired, obviously.

As fun as it is to rag on Harden for being a choker or D’Antoni’s system for not being real basketball or Morey for being a soulless MIT nerd, y’all (the fans) have nothing to be ashamed of.

Daryl is without a doubt one of the best GMs of all time. Tough to run up against the best team ever assembled. But obviously gotta give credit that they attempted to compete.

Yeah, gotta give him credit acquiring James Harden, CP3, and Dwight during his time with the team. As well as finding guys like Parsons, Harrell, Covington, Capela and Beverly later in the draft and as under the radar undrafted players.
