Singapore Sentinels

Motivation - Get to .500.

Offensive Strategy
Formations:  2 RB/ 3WR/ 4WR

Scheme:  Pass (50%) vs Run (50%)

Rushing
Position Depth: Kareem Hunt/ Chris Carson / CEH / James Conner / Myles Gaskin

Hunt and Carson get the start this week using 21 personnel. CEH and Gaskin will spell them and Conner will handle short yardage plays. Hunt and Carson are threats both in the run game and passing game out of the backfield or in the slot. They will each get about 10-12 carries with the WR getting some Jet sweeps. Using 21 personnel we hope to grind down the Squatch DL and LBs to create  big plays later in the game and steal this victory.

Sacramento has a thinner interior DL without Vea so we will run to the inside and set up the pass for Brady with some play action. The versatility of our offensive weapons allows them to line up in multiple spots and give Brady a quick out to move the ball.

Passing
When not handing it off, Brady will be employing a quick passing game that includes our backs on swing and flat routes. We want a short passing game to extend drives and tire out the Squatch defense. Our receiving core of Keenan Allen/WR, Laviska Shenault Jr /WR and Darren Waller/TE will flood the field with a variety of routes (slants, crossing, and hook primarily). Shenault leads the league in broken tackles and adds more elusiveness to our main offense this week and gets involved on Jet sweeps and also will line up in the backfield with the RB going out to the Slot

In 3 WR formations Gabriel Davis brings some field stretching capability to go along with Allen and Shenault’s route running skills. In 4 WR formations Mooney adds speed to the field. Misdirection will allow our playmakers to keep the chains moving and outscore the Squatch.

Defensive Strategy
Formation:  4-1-6 Defense / 3-3-5 / 3-2-6

Our main defensive formation will consist of the 4-1-6 (Dime). Mainly because Sacramento doesn’t have any healthy TE’s available to play this week. In my opinion, this formation is putting our best 11 on the field thus giving our defense the best chance to dismantle their offensive game plan.

Rush Defense
The Squatch have a stable of young bucks at RB so we obviously will prepare to stop the run. Aaron Donald and Bilal Nichols clog the middle and get penetration this week to collapse the pocket on Watson. Deion Jones will keep an eye on Burrow as he is also a threat to run. KPL and Reddick come off the bench if Sacramento goes run heavy in 21 personnel.

Pass Rush
Preston Smith and Robert Quinn set the edges and we will be dialing up blitz packages this week to force Burrow to throw quickly and not give his receivers time to develop their routes. So we’ll look to exploit things by keeping the pressure on for the bulk of the game with a safety blitz or the LB spying on Burrow putting pressure on him as well. The depth off the bench in Muhammad, Anderson and Reddick will make sure that Burrow, the most sacked QB this year,  has no time and nowhere to run all day.

Pass Defense - Scheme:  Cover 2 Man

Ruggs is the clear WR1 and will draw coverage from Kyle Fuller. Boyd is a solid possession receiver and Williams is healthy. Desmond King will keep the WR4 locked down this week. We are confident that our secondary is up to the task of preventing this passing game from developing. John Johnson and Ryan Neal have deep coverage as the high safeties and we want Burrow to try and beat us with his arm. Ryan Neal settles in nicely to this defense as he has shown an awareness for the ball with 2 picks this year.

Coverage Assignments:
·         Henry Ruggs / Kyle Fuller - CB
·        Preston Williams/ Quinton Dunbar - CB
·        Tyler Boyd / Jonathan Jones - CB
·         Harry or Swain or Johnson / Desmond King II - Dime

Sacramento Sasquatch

Offensive Personnel Groups (3W/2RB 50%, 2RB/2WR/1Wing 30%, 4 Wide Traditional 20%)

We will be going with our base 3Wide/2RB personnel 50% of the time. We will also run a 2RB/2WR formation with a wing back where N’Keal Harry will substitute for Preston Williams to line up as the Wing. In our base 3Wide we will have Preston Williams on a stand alone side and Ruggs on the outside on the other side with Boyd as the slot WR. 10% of our 2 Back formations will involve Alec Ingold as a Fullback. Gibson will play in all 2Back sets while Taylor plays in 60% of them with Dobbins taking the other 40% as RB2. In 4 Wide Jonathan Taylor and Dobbins will split time evenly.  In the 4 Wide Traditional Harry will be the fourth Wide lined up in the slot on Preston Williams side)

Offensive Strategy: (50/50 Run Pass)

Take the Top Off

We want to utilize Ruggs big play ability in two ways. First by taking deep shots to the speed demon. Second utilizing Ruggs to stretch the defense out. Ruggs’ speed will open up our passing game underneath for Boyd, Williams, Harry and the RBs. The Raiders have scored 16 points more per game when Ruggs plays as he opens up the entire offense. Ruggs primary routes this game will be verticals, deep posts, deep drags, corners, and fades.

Play Action

We will use our run game to set up play action and our underneath passing game that compliments the deep routes to Ruggs. If safeties bite up on play action we have Ruggs deep. If they play back we have underneath routes where linebackers are sucked up. Out of this play action we will run some boots to get Burrow out of the pocket and slow down the pass rush of Singapore.

Quick Passing Game

Every young QB and even vets need reliable safety nets. Burrow’s favorite target on the Bengals is Tyler Boyd and he will also have him underneath and in the middle of the field. Antonio Gibson will be heavily involved in the quick passing game out of the 2Back set, with some screens, wheels out of the backfield and by motioning out into the slot and running slants, arrows, and bubble screens. Preston Williams and N’Keal Harry will provide Burrow with big bodied targets on the outside as well as red zone weapons.

Zone Run

Our zone scheme will feature double blocks on Donald throughout. We will use the run to establish play action and control the clock. We will again this week feature run stretch, inside zone, and outside zone. We believe the C gap will be the hole our backs will really get some explosive runs. When we run the ball in our Wing to seal bock or kick out on the outside. We will mix in some option runs when both of our backs are lined up in the backfield together to utilize Burrow’s athleticism as well as a different look to attack the Singapore defense.

Pass Protection

We will double team Donald every play of this game. All of his sacks against Washington were because he was single blocked last week according to him. We will not make that same mistake. We believe we can single block Bilal Nichols effectively inside and trust our tackles to hold the edge rushers. We always have at least one back in the backfield. The back that doesn’t motion out in 2 Back sets will be a pass protector and in the 4Wide the back will be a stand in pass protector to help keep Burrow clean.

Defensive Formations:

We will run a Nickel formation against their three wide and a Dime against any four wide. Against any 3TE or 2RB/2WR sets we will run a 4-3. Ceedy Duce will play the nickel with SMB playing the Dime. With Sam Hubbard on IR, Shaq Lawson gets the start at RE. If Lawson can’t go Jordan Jenkins starts at RE. Cody Barton has been promoted to the third LBer this week after his great game against the Vikings.

Run Defense

Our Heavy Zone scheme in the back 7 is going to help with run support for our front 4. We are going to rotate our dline to keep guys fresh. Singapore has a great Backfield and we want to contain it with Gap disciplined football. We will have our ends outside contain and funnel everything back inside. Keeping the running game bottled up and not letting big plays to the outside is key to victory for us.

Pass Defense

We will be heavy zone again, running 85% mix of Cover 2 and Cover 3 with 15% man with a cover 2 shell. There is some good speed in the Singapore secondary and we want to keep that speed in front of us where we can make stops on the underneath routes of their quick passing game. We are going to press as we believe we have the size and attitude in our DBs to disrupt the timing of their routes that Brady relies so heavily on.  We will mix up blitzes with Cody Barton and Kenneth Murray frequently out of our zone coverage when we are in our 4-3 and bring one of them from various gaps to keep the offense guessing.  We will blitz Murray less in our Nickel look. When we do run man CJ Henderson has Keenan Allen with shadow over top shell with Bates.

Should've started CEH lol

He's accounted for. Also should have stayed with Conner with his 3rd 100 yd game.

I mean I can't really predict which stud will show out each week. Gaskin had a solid performance as well.

This game is a bit of an aberration.

I think Sacramento and Sing came wirh good gameplans. Fact is though nobody knew that that RB group that seems to be a big part of Singapore's gameplan was going go absolutely insane this week.

I actually like Sacramento to keep this close but in the end I think Singapore's running game gets a slide edge here.

28-24 Singapore

I have to say I really think SirA did a great job with his gameplan for the week. You gotta feel for Burrow IRL, and I think he does much better here, but he just hasn't shown enough and Singapore can likely control the clock in this game.

I think playing heavy zone vs Brady you need to rely on a very strong front 4. Don't think Sacramento has that in the pass rushing department and that will hurt them. Compensating with blitzes is fine but that gives space for every weapon and with two solid safety valve options out of the backfield I think Brady has success. On the other side, Singapore covers well for Sacramento weapons with that heavy dB lineup. The running game battle is contested on both side, I don't see a clear winner here, so advantage for Singapore, 31-20

Kinda have to agree here. I think Brady, with the threat of the run game looming, will have quite a bit of time to work today and pick apart that zone.
