Watching Isaiah Hodgins try to track a deep ball yesterday was symbolic of how far away we are from competing. Woof. Of course, Joe Schoen didn't expect to be on his 8th WR and Schoen deserves credit by sticking to the plan of taking his medicine now. But man, there is a lot of work to do.

They needed to not have to focus too much on OL this offseason but unfortunately, it will be a focus again. Glowinski is BAD and Feliciano is obviously not a good player. Unfortunately, we didn't learn whether they can go into next season with Ezeudu locked in a LG. We'll be sitting here in August with a 3+ person battle in there.

The Saquon dilemma is a tough one. He's obviously not getting a long-term deal from us but if we don't franchise him, it's another position where we basically have nothing. Breida is a gadget piece at best and Brightwell has had a nice few runs but he's a ST first guy.

I think Barkley gets a high AAV for 3years. Might frontload it too.

Jones has def earned a few more seasons too.

I think we trade for Jeudy or add Smith-Schuster to the team then draft a guy early.

We have playoff clinching scenarios!

Rooting guide:

Next week- Chiefs, Panthers, 49ers

Week 17- Bears, Jets, Browns

Week 18- Cowboys, Packers, Rams

If the Chiefs and 49ers win (I'd call those likely victories), Giants need 1 win over their last 3 to clinch a wild card spot. And even regardless of all that, if the Giants win 2 of 3, we are in, no matter what anyone else does. That would put us 10-6-1 at worst, a record none of the other wild card hopeful teams could meet.

The Vikings are beatable. They're definitely a good team, but they always play close games (like us). Beating the Vikings would also give the Eagles enough breathing room where, even if they were to lose to the Cowboys, they'd have the #1 seed locked up with a win over New Orleans at home in week 17, which would almost certainly lead to a rest week in week 18.

I know the Colts look like the most favorable matchup on the schedule, and that's right, but we definitely shouldn't overlook the Vikings this week, especially if Adoree Jackson comes back.

Most likely path:

Week 16- Giants lose (MIN), Washington loses (SF), Seattle loses (KC), Detroit wins (CAR)

Week 17- Giants win (IND), Washington wins (CLE), Seattle wins (NYJ), Detroit wins (CHI)

Week 18- Giants win (PHI JV), Washington wins (DAL JV), Seattle wins (LAR), Detroit loses (GB)

In that case, wild card seeding would be Dallas 5, Giants 6, Washington 7. If Detroit wins in week 18 in Lambeau against GB, then it would be Dallas 5, Giants 6, Detroit 7. If we happened to lose against the Eagles JV squad (very possible), we'd still make it in that scenario as the 7 seed.

We are in a good spot.

In case people are wondering playoff wise we should be rooting for the Packers to upset the Dolphins. If they do they are in the playoff hunt and the team they face next week is the Vikings at home. If they beat Vikings that will drop them from the #2  to the #3. The #3 is going to play against the #6. When we beat the Colts we are going to be locked into the #6.

I think everyone here wants another shot at the Vikings.

Yeah, that be the perfect scenario. I’m just happy to make the playoffs and hope no injuries. It’s been a fun season so far!

If the Giants win next week and the Jets are still in contention entering week 18, the Jets-Giants game next year should be played in primetime in a week where it cannot possibly be flexed out. Thus far MetLife Bowls (including editions that predate MetLife Stadium) have only ever been played at 1 PM ET, even in seasons where both teams are coming off good years. It was notably passed over for SNF on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The NFL is an offensive league. Putting the 21st vs 25th offense isn’t that exciting. The only original SNF game with two teams ranked in the 20s for offense was Dolphins/Steelers with 21/22 ranked offenses. That was flexible. As Giants/Jets are the same market, it doesn’t bring in additional viewers.  As it typically takes an offense a few weeks to warm up, this would be a low scoring game. What benefit is it to NBC or the NFL to have this game on primetime in the first 6 weeks?

It could also be on MNF in the first 10 weeks, since MNF is gaining flex scheduling next year. Or if ABC's exclusive games take place in the late stages of the season and cannot be changed by flexing, Jets-Giants could be an ABC exclusive. This would make WABC happy, as they are the only big 4 NYC station never to have aired a game between these teams.

But why would the networks want that game? A low scoring affair for 1 market?
