How should we have handled it? Just not sign him at all?

Fire Dave would have been the better option.  The man needs to go.

Very little he's done since signing on as GM has been successful.  His last year transactions worked out starting to think last season was just a fluke.

Yes, we all hate Gettleman, but the Golden move we all loved. It’s a shame we couldn’t use him.

DG just get this done. Give DJ a proper #1. No offense to Slayton I love the man but he would flourish in the Z role. Move Shep to slot where he belongs. Let Ross take the top off the defense. Golladay and Slay work underneath. EE always a threat. This would be a lethal receiving corps on it's own, then add in SB coming out the backfield.

Am hearing that our offer is around 12 million a year.  Golladay coming in for a physical and if all goes well in the meeting should be signed.

Source? For a player that had 300 yards last season, coming off an injury and other issues.

Never like seeing players blast our front office especially during the off season.

The latest is Markus Golden stating that his, "Giants experience 'rubbed me the wrong way".

In the same week, Steve Smith slammed Dave Gettleman, theorizing why he hasn't signed any No. 1 WR yet.  I really hope Smith is just salty of being canned and there isn't any truth to this as it really sounds far fetched.

Nonetheless, I believe that how Dave handled cleaning house has rubbed a lot of players the wrong way and that it does impact signing free agents.

“They don’t want an alpha. They can’t take Juju (Smith-Schuster) because he plays in the slot and that’s where (Sterling) Shepard plays. They already have a tight end. So what they want are robots who aren’t going to make a stink, who are gonna fall in place, which will end up stunting the growth of your franchise quarterback because you either want a robot or 6-foot-2, 215 or above wide receiver. You don’t want a playmaker. You want cheap. You want people that aren’t gonna make a stink in the locker room. And that means you want to be (he then paused, made a loud inhale/sniffing sound) average.”

After Irvin interjected to say Kenny Golladay would be a good fit for the Giants, Smith spoke up again.

“That general manager knows exactly what he wants. He wants to be able to sit in front of everybody and say, ‘Look what I did.’ If he brings in an alpha, the alpha gets all the attention and not him. That’s what ran him out of Carolina, and that’s what has them very pedestrian in New York right now where they’re shopping for value when they got $180 million. But what are they gonna do? They’re gonna get a guy (Ross) who wasn’t very good, who had 12 or 13 healthy scratches, and they gonna make him something now. Not gonna happen, bro! I’m telling you. From here, sitting at the house with a suit and some sweatpants on, it’s easy to pick these dudes apart.”

I believe I was the first person critical of  DG when others were wanting him to be nominated as GM of the year. As much as I dislike DG and wish he was gone it is clear the DG and Judge combo is working. The Giants can't handle an Alpha... and? Judge is from the Patriots the Patriot way can easily be seen as 'Shut up' and Do your job. Who were the outspoken Alpha's on the Patriots?

The Patriot way works, if our overall talent did not suck we would have won this division last year. If we get the right players (and with Judge around I believe we will) I see us winning this division. As for Juju, you really think Juju is an Alpha? Do you really want a Wideout that inspires the defense by dancing on his opponents team logo in the center of the field as his pregame warmup. To me that is not leadership, I want no part of JuJu.

I don't believe anyone here has disliked DG as long as I have, but as they say winning is a powerful perfume. I see us doing a lot of winning with Judge around and DG implementing Judge's version of the Patriot way.

12 million is more than fair, in fact I am thinking kind of cheap. I am not in love with Golladay but come on if he is healthy he is that big body down the field target we been looking for. If Golladay is a bust, 12 mill a year is not going to cripple us at all.

The numbers for Allen Robinson if he was not franchised was supposed to be around 20 mill a year. I was thinking  if we could get Golladay for just 15-16 mill a year that would be fair. If we can get Golladay for just 12 mill a year, I might nominate DG for GM of the year myself.

I think K. Golladay would be a great signing.   He's been a solid player since his rookie year.  I don't put a lot of stock in the 2020 season.  He's the big body type receiver that I think that this team has lacked for several years.  We needed targets that can get open underneath and at 6'4" he can do that.  Let's just hope we can pull it off as I don't view him as a bust.  You can't be a bust if you're dropping back to back 1000 yard seasons.
