Does he play in the secondary?

I mean it’s a fine trade. He’s an upgrade on Robertson and Alonso. Gives us more depth behind Demario and Thor. He’s decent in coverage IIRC.

He's elite in coverage but he's bad at tackling expect alot of missed tackles every game.

Our franchise is very used to bad tackling so we’re used to it.

Lmao, this. If Saints fans don't count at least 10 missed tackles by halftime, we start checking outside for meteors hurtling towards earth.

Low risk/high reward signing. Didn't give up much for a guy with Pro Bowl ability. Provides a ton of athleticism at LB, and is a coverage specialist. If he can stay healthy we got a steal, if not not much given up for him. Really like this move by the Saints. This is the type of move that could help fix some of our defensive woes. He is an inconsistent tackler, but given how good our run defense is, I'm not too worried about that, what he can provide in the pass game more than makes up for it.

If he grabs running backs by the shoulder pads while running backwards/sideways and gets shed like a rain jacket, he probably learned that at the Saints training camp anyway.

I've heard he really good sideline to sideline, but may be injury prone.

The only thing that concerns me is the money.

On an actual football/scheme discussion, I think Alexander's ability to drop into coverage may allow us have some of our safeties a little deeper. If Alexander can deal with TE's/slot RB's and WR's, this may allow us to push Jenkins and Williams back a little deeper. It would help against the 20+ yard plays and hopefully limit the amount of DPI's we get.

Agreed, that seems to be one of the biggest problems with our secondary this season. They consistently get beat deep and either give up a big catch, or since they are a step behind commit a penalty to try and prevent the catch. I'm also hoping that Alexander can allow us to play our Safeties deeper. Williams especially seems like he is at his best when he can roam deep and make plays on the ball.

Remember when we had a Darren Sharper backing up a Vilma?
