And here we go.... Yah know? This is not going to get old to me. Edited November 4, 2020 by vegas492

Regarding the defense...it is really hard to evaluate these guys with the junk they are being asked to run. I really can't speculate much on what we should draft right now. My personal opinion is that we need to draft an ILB with the first pick and second pick. Let's settle this debate once and for all. Go full tilt on ILB and see if they can transform a defense. Why ILB? I think you meant to say IDL right? Also, I think we have plenty to evaluate on the IDL because that's where the problem lies. We though ILB was an issue, but the two rookies are actually playing surprisingly well. If Curtis Bolton could stay healthy, ILB is really no longer a need unless we're gunning for a 2-down thumper, which I highly doubt. I think we can all agree that we're two IDL, a solid CB3, and a better scheme away from having a top-10 defense TBH. One offseason could potentially make that all a reality. JMO.

I mean ILB. I want to put to bed the thought that you need to draft an ILB high in order to have a good defense. So let's draft two, right away, and either have a great defense, or admit that ILB is not an issue. And I typed that in green, earlier. It's the "sarcastic" font color. pacman5252
Gute isn't going anywhere for another 1.5 years minimum. We're still going to probably win the division, maybe win a playoff game or 2. You don't go from 6-10 to 13-3 to fired (without a 3-13 year) With that said, it is fair to rip some of the draft picks. Gary was very questionable. I was high on Love, but that was questionable. There is a scenario where the team implodes next year after people leave, AR gets hurt, and Love looks like trash. At this point, sarcasm aside, I am all for taking a LB in the late 1 if we can get a DL in FA that can play meaningful snaps. I would rather draft one in the late 1st than pay one in FA. Summers is fine in his specials role and backup role. Burks needs to go. And we need to draft another ILB in the mid to late rounds. We need DL help, no doubt. I also think we need corner help. That and WR are the two I'm looking at for our early picks. I really loved King coming out, but his injury issues are just too much. You can't invest many cap dollars into that kind of guy.

Toddfather
Could they soften the hit to over a few years and maybe let teams dip into their rainy day money? I'm not a cap specialist, but if this league wont shut down and give up during Covid they are not going to roll over and die next year. They will figure it out. That's why they set the 175M minimum, since the "real cap" would probably be lower. This situation will decrease next year's cap, but also 2022-2025 cap.
deathstar
Why didn’t Gute and Ball foresee a global pandemic driving revenue down for the first time in however long?

Cuz they can sell sod and/or "stock" and rake in the money. (Speaking as a shareholder. Not a sod owner.)
