Berlin Blitzkrieg

Offense

Overview - Balanced pass game, use playaction, let Rodgers do his thing.

2 TE - 35% - With Jones back and Jackson running well, we want to get a solid run game going to work playaction off of.  We will run our stretch play with some regularity, also using cut backs and some inside runs to keep the defense from flowing too strongly.

We want to move Irv around the field to serve as a lead blocker as well as use both our TEs down the seam and out in the flat.

Hollywood serves as our deep threat, and we will give him chances to go get the ball if he has single coverage.  Woods will serve as more of our underneath guy, but we will incorporate double moves with him as well.

3 WR - 35% - Kirk comes in for Irv, but we continue to use our run game pretty evenly.  We will use more WR screens and incorporate in our jet sweep motion to the slow WR.

4 WR - 30% -  MVS comes in for the RB half the time and Henry half the time.  We spread the ball out and throw it all over the field.  When the RB is in, we will use more draws and screens to slow down the pass rush.  When the TE is in, look for more rollouts and WR screens.

Defense

Overview - Play Winfield up, get numbers against the run, make Baker beat us.

2 TE - In man our CBs take the WRs, Kyzir takes Harrison, Tremaine takes Gronk, Rashaan follows the RB.  Both their WRs excel at YAC, so we are going to sit Winfield in a middle zone to help against the TE in the seam as well as crossers and slants.  This will also allow us to put 8 in the box to defend against the run.  Thornhill will sit deep with a slight shade to Brown’s side as he is the more explosive deep threat.

We will mix in a fair amount of Cover-3 here as well.

3 WR - Joyner comes in for Kyzir and takes the WR, probably Hamler, in man.  Most of our defense stays the same in Cover 1 man and Cover 3 zone.  Winfield will continue to play up to give us numbers in the run game.

4 WR - Gladney comes in for Rashaan and takes the 4th WR.  Tremaine takes the RB.  We will run more Cover-2 here to allow for more underneath zone coverages.

Camden Hood Rats

Offense (shotgun spread base)
We're gonna open it up and wing it a little more this week than usual. I mean, why not. Last week Berlin ran basically every single zone concept imaginable plus man so against this incredible amoeba defense we'll just run the offense the way we want and we'll see if one of their 17 coverage shells works.

Heavy Targets for AJ- 99% sure he'll be the focal point of Rags' defensive efforts, but we won't shy away. He's shown time and time again in his short career that when you get the ball in his hands he's a major problem. We'll move him around the formation today to force them to switch players when they double. When in the slot, we'll set him up near Gronk and cross their routes up frequently to see if we can get Brown matched up with a LB or safety in one of their zones. We'll also work some double moves on slant and go's, as our usual MO of lots of slants can lend to defenders jumping those routes, so we'll take advantage of that here today.

Great White Hope- With AJ getting most of our looks and likely most of the defensive attention, Cooper Kupp becomes very important today. Like Brown, Kupp is at his best when he gets the ball quick and can make something happen after the catch. We'll utilize Kupp mostly out of the slot, and like moving Brown inside from time to time, hopefully get the defense in a bad spot in one of their zones. If they go heavy man, we can run plenty of crossing routes and rub concepts to get some wiggle room for these guys.

Speed test- With Brown, Kupp and Gronk working the intermediate part of the field, we'll use guys like Hamler and to a lesser extent Hightower to attack with deep throws down the sideline. With them on the field, Berlin can't condense everything without facing the possibility of one of these guys shaking loose deep and making a big play.

Two TE sets- We won't utilize these as much as last week, but they'll still be important for us. Gronk has shown he's still got it, and in the red zone he's been lights out on fades so expect a few of those today. Berlin has some athletic LB's, but neither are mavens in coverage necessarily so when our two TE sets are on the field, it won't deter us from passing frequently out of those sets.

Still unstoppable- Damien Harris again was given double digit touches, and responded at over 6 YPC this time. Even spreading the field out more, we can't totally ignore the run, so with Harris being virtually unstoppable with double digit carries, he'll again tote the rock 15-20 times and probably have close to 300 yards. Probably.

Defense (Cover 1 man robber base)

Rags disheartened the league when he was allowed to trade for Rodgers and make a good team better this offseason, and it's served him well so far. He's got a lot of weapons at his disposal and gets Jones back this week, so containing all these wild stallions is the name of the game.

Robber- Adams is actually back this week, and he'll be greatly important to what we want to do. With him playing the robber role, he's going to play a vital role in stopping Aaron Jones on the ground, but also with Aiyuk and Woods being known for running the ball on jet sweeps and motion type thingies having another versatile defender close to the LOS can go a long way in stopping those from being effective. He'll be called into duty on blitzes as well too, in conjunction with our defensive ends getting pressure, a few blitzes off the edge to punish Rodgers won't hurt. He also takes RB/TE responsibility on LB blitz packages.

Cover 1- We'll have our FS shade the side of Hollywood this game, with Ward following him today to match speed. We're sure Berlin will take some deep shots, but Woods and Aiyuk are better when they get the ball early in the play and get to create, so running a cover 1 allows us the versatility to control both aspects of their passing game effectively. Dennard will get Woods and Coleman gets Aiyuk. This allows Leonard and Smith to focus on Henry and Jones respectively without having to scheme anything special up.

Get creative with pressure- We've got 4 good pass rushers, and we'll rotate them in regularly today. In third and longs all 4 players could be on the field together also. Rags like to do this duo double team thing from time to time, so if he tries to do that to isolate my DE's, we'll use lots of pre snap motion where we slide the line one way or another. This can create situations of unbalance on that offensive line and hopefully cause some chaos and free rushers for us. With already having Jamal Adams and Darius Leonard available in blitz packages, we'll bring Josh Uche in certain downs as a stand up LB in Jaylon Smith's place. Uche, on limited snaps last week, showed he can be a reliable tackler as well as being able to get pressure, so we'll mix him in and let him attack today.

Run game- Rags likes to run stretch plays and everyone likes to make Ngakoue an easy target in the run game, but with that comes predictability on the offensive end so for the most part this week we'll put Ngakoue on the side that Adams lines up as a robber as much as possible so we have an extra line of defense when Rags chooses to go that route.

You run short on time for the write up?

Yeah, we were visiting mom in the Keys and had to change plans to fly out late last night to get out before the tropical storm hit.  I had about 30 minutes this morning.

Sorry man, not my best effort.

I was hoping that was the case. No worries man.

Yeah, we were trying to fly out of Miami last night and the plane kept getting delayed cause of the winds, so we got in real late.  And we realized Friday we had to fly out a couple days early, so the 24 hours prior were more than a little hectic.

Only 250 bucks for two one-way tickets from Miami to Nashville isn't too bad though.

Haven't been real impressed with Baker this season and I just don't see Camden putting up enough points to keep up this week.

I gotta go with Berlin here. I just don't see Baker Mayfield and the crew being able to keep pace with Berlin.
