Giants Draft Talk

Rookie OL aren't going to save us next year. Take Saquon Barkley or Lamar Jackson and know you took the most talented player.

Getting into offseason talk, this complete disaster of a season proves the Giants arent ready to win another championship before Eli retires. While we are poised to have an extremely high pick in a very talented QB draft, this is when you clean house. Get a GM you believe in, i like Riddick, and let him assemble a staff then let the GM and coach choose who to revamp the franchise with. Mayfield, Jackson, Darnold, Rosen, whoever.

Mcadoo was hired because he was different enough from Coughlin to re-energize the team yet close enough to not rebuild and take the team to a superbowl. Obviously that isnt gonna happen. Steal Harbaugh from Michigan and start over. Kaep looked like an all-pro under Harbaugh. Draft Jackson and watch him because a superstar.

Giants are in no mans because of Eli’s contract. We can’t do a full rebuild until we can reduce that cap hit and the only way to do that is with him a pay cut.

Salary cap goes up every year. Eli's contract wouldn't be that limiting and absolutely shouldn't stop us from rebuilding.

I like JR and Mcadoo. But this isnt working out and with us poised to have a very high draft pick in a draft with talented QBs, now is the time for a full rebuild. If the owners dont agree now, they will when they see how empty the stands are in the new meadowlands in the coming weeks

It won’t stop us, but is a major deterrent. He’ll take at least 10% of our cap next season. We need to use that money on other places such as OL

If we completely change everything, there may be players current players that arent fits for a new scheme that can be traded for picks. That would clear cap space. Also, while we absolutely need to invest resources into the OL, you cant expect to fix it in one year and especially not just by spending in FA.

We'd be stupid to take a QB at where we pick. I don't get it. QB is the least of our worries not that Eli id indispensable but we have bigger problems to address. We either get a OL or a defensive playmaker. Why not build the OL to allow whenever we do replace ELi they are comfortable.

This team doesn't need a rebuild. Talent is there.

We are 0-5. That is the same record as the 49ers and Browns. We have finished with a losing season 3 out of the past 4 years, about to be 4 out of 5, and haven't won a playoff game since 2011. It is past time for a rebuild. It is an enviable rebuild situation because there is talent, but a rebuild is needed. Even at the most basic level, this team doesn't even have an identity. What do we do well? What is our strength? The answer can't just be Odell.

Ignore the record. 49ers and Browns are bad due to talent. This team had Superbowls aspirations and rightly so before the season. You don't go from that to rebuild. I'm sorry that's just an extreme.

What exactly does rebuild entail in your mind? Because people throw around that world a lot and it's misused.

To be fair 90% of teams have "Superbowl aspirations" going into the season.  IMO the Jets, Browns, 49ers, and Bears are probably the only teams who came into the regular season without much hope of a playoff spot.  Out of those 4 the Jets are surprising (so far).  Just to say we have Superbowl aspirations doesn't make a Superbowl run likely.  The only way we scored points last year was OBJ.  He's out.  The only way we remained competitive last year was with a dominant run defense.  This year our D lets EVERYONE through, on the ground or otherwise.

Of the playoff teams from 2016 ranked by the number of players they drafted between 2009 and 2013 who were on their roster for at least one snap last season.

TEAM PLAYERS
Green Bay Packers 13
Pittsburgh Steelers 12
New England Patriots 11
Dallas Cowboys 10
Detroit Lions 9
Seattle Seahawks 9
Atlanta Falcons 8
Miami Dolphins 7
Houston Texans 7
Kansas City Chiefs 7
Oakland Raiders 6
New York Giants 4

Last.  Heck we're not even averaging one player per DRAFT.  That's awful.  That's not how you maintain a successful football team.  PAYING free agents to fill out your entire roster is how you end up in last.  Hopefully we can get some studly left tackle in the top 5 of the draft.  That should help bring us into the next generation of Giants (QB or otherwise) as well as trying to get the most out of the last couple of years with Eli.  We've been not bad for a lot of years and in that time haven't amassed any sort of youth movement to carry us forward.

That's on JR.  His refusal to trade in drafts has killed the future of the team and he needs to go, IMO.
