Should’ve had a 32 team double elim from the start

Nah, all teams play their own division 2x  top two in each division play a play in game. Bye week for all teams here. Division winners to the play offs. Single or double elimination playoffs. Done.

That's a 7 week pool play

1 week bye

2 weeks of playoffs

1week bye

Championship.

Season done in 11 weeks.

Everyone gets to see their own team a minimum of 6 times.

It would really suck to only get two games for the whole season. Regardless though the players associate and owners would never agree to that many fewer games due to pay issues. Players are not going to take 2 or 6 game checks and be ok with it and owners aren't about to lose ten+ weeks of game revenue.

The NFL will limp to the finish line regarding this season. I'm already hoping for next year, assuming that this is still going to be a problem that the NFL actually has a good plan in place for the 2021 season. Playing musical chairs with the games has been an utter disaster, which could have been mitigated like 9 months ago if they had more contingencies in place.

I remember reading elsewhere from someone who does work in NFL circles that since the NFL is more or less owned by separate entities compared to other sports leagues, that getting something like a bubble situation like the NBA has in addition to the increased manpower/employment/resources would make it a nightmare to try and do. But still, they did have months and months to come up with a plan.

A bubble for all 32 teams would be impossible. That said, each team being able to have a bubble within it's own city certainly would have been possible although players definitely would have gone against it.

It has nothing to do with not helping or helping any teams, it's all about containment. While it feels crappy for the Broncos to not have a QB, their actual Covid positive is contained, right now. They had one positive test, no one has tested positive since, they contact traced and found just a few high risk contacts, they and the player who was positive are quarantined, so the team as a whole is good to travel and play.

The Ravens have had an ongoing cycle of positive tests. Even after shutting the team down, they continue to have new positives everyday, so right now, the league has no idea how far their outbreak has gone and will go. You can't throw a team on a bus or a plane, have them hang out in a cramped locker room, etc., when you don't know how many more players have it. Jackson tested positive like yesterday afternoon. He more than likely already had it Thursday, so you play that game, you give him and others far more chances to spread it to more players. If the game was played today, they may have already traveled to Pittsburgh with players with Covid. That's the problem. All those Ravens players who test positive still won't play Tuesday. They aren't trying to give them time to get healthy and get players back. They're giving them time to make sure they don't bring anyone who has it with them.

The NFL doesn't care how crappy it is to be without players due to Covid anymore than they care about teams being out players due to an ACL tear. If both QBs on a team's roster dislocate their throwing shoulder in warmups, the NFL doesn't cancel the game. The NFL says tough crap, and the team deals, probably poorly, and the league moves on. They don't care about how competitive a roster a team is taking with them each Sunday, they just care that that roster is not carrying the virus with them. If the Ravens fly to Pittsburgh with no QBs on the plane, the league won't care either, as long as they aren't flying with a QB with Covid.

For a tl;dr, it isn't about helping a team field a roster, it's just about making sure they know who does and doesn't have it, and that they bring only those who don't on gameday.

People need to stop thinking about this from a perspective of whether it feels fair or not. That's not what it's about. It's about trying to decrease spread and still have a full season. Regardless of whether that's right or not, they've actually been incredibly consistent in how they've handled this, people just don't want to pay attention and prefer to shout about how unfair stuff is.

You're kidding right? The sad thing is, I know you are not. The fact is that while actual symptoms might take some time to appear, viral presence can be detected in as little as a day or two using PCR testing, which would absolutely rule out whether any of these players are in fact infected or not. The league simply chooses not to pursue this option because they are "punishing" the players and the team.

While I don't agree with punishing players for this type of violation, because let's be honest, if we're willing to let these guys not only put their health and safety at risk by playing in the first place, as well as expecting them to play in the middle of a pandemic, we need to be able to overlook a few incidences that are clearly not simply an organization trying to ignore common sense guidelines and more like a few players who without thinking deeply about it were guilty of having contact with each other within their own small circle of quarterbacks. If you want to punish them via fines or draft picks, then do it. That at least is in line with punishments handed out for other types of violations, although I think it's hugely wrong. At least it doesn't violate the idea of fairness.

What you are ALL neglecting to address is the fact that every other team this season who has had a quarterback test positive for Covid has had their game rescheduled.

Lamar Jackson gets Covid. Game rescheduled.
Cam Newton gets Covid. Game rescheduled.

Several other games have been rescheduled in cases where quarterbacks were not involved, but the players involved COULD have been replaced with second string or practice squad players that were not in direct contact with traced individuals.

A player who is "injured" is a far different thing from a player who is simply and unfortunately in contact with another member of their team that has tested positive for a disease. If we are going to punish players or teams for being in contact with each other, after we've insisted that they either choose to continue playing despite the risks or forego any earnings for choosing not to play, then we might as well have simply cancelled the entire season because it's unrealistic AND more importantly, it's just another nail in the coffin of the idea that these owners and the league itself care more about the potential for missed earnings than they do about the fairness, safety or health of any player.

The NFLPA should absolutely file a grievance in this case. If we allow owners and league officials to make decisions like this that are clearly, obviously and flagrantly one sided, and not uniformly enforced across the league for the entire seasonal schedule, regardless of any mitigating or peripheral circumstances, then we might just as well ask the league to simply pick the two teams they like best at the beginning of future seasons and allow them to play immediately for the championship. Why should players risk harm throughout a season if the outcomes can be directly influenced by the league for behaviors that in ANY other season or scenario would not be deemed a violation of any kind?

The NFL league office clearly needs to be purged, with a new slate and a fresh start. It's time for Roger and his cronies to go.

It's the broncos QBs fault it's written and highlighted what protocols to follow can't have sympathy

Why cant they sign a veteran QB off the scrap heap in FA? I know it was only 10-12 hours to prepare with the playcalling but wouldnt it be much better to roll the dice with a guy like Drew Stanton or Cody Kessler over whatever they are doing with their practice squad WR? At least those guys are legitimate QBs

Any player signed needs to go through 5 days of testing before being allowed to play in a game. Otherwise there is too much risk of bringing a sick person into the locker room

So the broncos can't sign anyone and it's their own damn fault

No mask? No sympathy from me.
