Giants fire OL Coach Mark Colombo; Hiring Dave DeGuglielmo

At first, this was extremely surprising. The OL really, really improved over the last 3 weeks... then it came out that that better performance directly coincided with Judge focusing on helping the OL. Guess we now know why they got better. I think there is a chance myself, and a lot of others, are just wrong and Colombo is not a good OL coach. He had a ton of talent to work with in Dallas, and was doing a poor job here until Judge stepped in. I thought this article was really strange from a few weeks ago; Andrew Thomas's former coach had some, indirectly, pretty negative things to say about how he was being coached on the Giants: https://www.aol.com/news/andrew-thomas-former-coach-breaks-150842093.html

Deguglielmo seems like a pretty obvious replacement. He was with the Giants previously and was with New England when Judge was there. I have a slight bad taste in my mouth about this hire remembering when he replaced Scar in NE and the line was so bad that they fired him and begged Scar to come out of retirement. Despite that though, I think he is still looked on as a good OL coach in NFL and other OL-adjacent circles.

Our OL was complete dogcrap until we fired the bengals dude and hired Colombo. To be fair, Marc had Houck helping him, but our OL went from one of the worst in the NFL to top 10 under Colombo.
