Interesting comments by Duke Tobin in the BBP today, talking about how they are gonna take a stud player at 5, and talking about how they believe it’s a deep OL draft, said “You can find starters in rounds 2,3, and maybe 4”.

mentioned it is not a deep WR draft.

which means we are going Chase!!!!!

Yeah. He also hinted the Bengals have 0 interest in trading down. Said they covet elite talent over additional draft capital.

Agree the Bengals need more elite players but they also have a lot of holes to fill.

Going into the new league year the team needed upgrades at LG, RG, RT, TE, and WR3 on offense. On defense we needed RDT, RDE, LB, CB1, and SCB.

In free agency we covered RTD, RDE, CB and SCB. We will probably re-sign Bynes for LB. On offense we've only upgraded RT.

I think any TE we get this year will be TE3 behind Sample and Uzomah.

RG we expect to be covered either at 5 or 38

LG will be a camp battle between XSF, Spain, and maybe someone like Easton.

I don't think we need a WR3, we need a WR1 or depth (WR5) because if it's not Chase as WR1, then more than likely it'll be Auden Tate as WR3 and we just won't have a deep threat outside of Higgins.

RT is covered with Reiff.

That sounds about like what the Bengals will do but it's not a very good plan.

If I'd been in charge, I'd have skipped the 15 mil for Hendrickson and used it to sign Matt Feiler for LG and Kevin Zeitler for RG plus Josh Reynolds for WR3. When Kyle Rudolph became available, I'd have cut Uzomah and signed Rudolph for the same money. Uzomah would be welcome back as TE3 on a minimum deal if he didn't latch on elsewhere. That would leave us with 1 hole, at RDE and about 20 mil under the cap, able to give Bates and Hubbard extensions. Then the draft would be open though the 2nd rounder would probably be a pass rusher like Carlos Basham.

I think RG will be covered for 2021 from the first two rounds, but a long term starter comes in rounds 3-5.  If we take Sewell, he goes to RT and Reiff starts inside of him.

I've always said it's Chase or bust at WR in the first two days.

Agreed about the rest, especially TE.  If they somehow shocked the world and took Pitts, he'd be more of a WR anyway (Megatron size)

This has to be one of my favorite scenarios I've run across in a PFN Penei mock

5. Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

38. Terrence Marshall, WR, LSU

69. Joe Tryon, Edge, Washington

111. Milton Williams, DL, Louisiana Tech

149. Anthony Schwartz, WR, Auburn

190. Nick Eubanks, TE, Michigan

202. Deommodore Lenoir, CB, Oregon

235. Josh Borregalas, K, Miami

Great haul, but I think we need an OG in there for the long haul.
