Beck Bristow
Pretty much find myself drafting Sewell in 1, then taking BPA out of DE, DT and corner the rest of the way with one more offensive lineman thrown in 3. Penei Sewell OT Oregon 35. Shaun Wade CB Ohio State 67. Hamilcar Rashed Jr. EDGE Oregon State 98. Tyler Shelvin DT LSU 130. Dayo Odeyingbo EDGE Vanderbilt 162. Camryn Bynum CB California 193. T.J. Carter CB Memphis 198. Darian Kennard OT Kentucky
Beck Bristow
Should be able to block a little better after this draft, right? 3. Penei Sewell OT Oregon 41. Rashawn Slater OG Northwestern 67. Jaylen Twyman DT Pittsburgh 74. Israel Mukuamu CB South Carolina 98. Myjai Sanders EDGE Cincinnati 193. Tariq Castro-Fields CB Penn State 198. Need to get the DE from free agency then.

BengalsBite
i just did some research and there have been 28 OTs drafted in the top 5 from 1970-2019. 11 have never made a pro bowl 17 have made a pro bowl 14 at least 3 pro bowls 9 have been an all pro at least once i also feel like this is similar to last year with burrow where we shouldn’t take the base stats of the top guy drafted because it seems like he’s in a higher tier of player. so the rates would probably be higher, i just don’t know the perceived value for all of them. Which way are you going with this? Taking Sewell or taking another position?

The only way I wouldn't take Sewell, would be if there was a Chase Young level edge prospect, and in my opinion, this draft doesn't have that. Not saying someone may not emerge and be that kind of star, just that it isn't a slam dunk no brainer kind of pick like Young was. Either that or some sort of lopsided trade where we are still picking top 6 and get multiple first round picks back.

Sewell is a top 4 player, and the strength of this draft seems to be WR, so i wouldn't take Chase in the first that high. This draft is all about the lines for me. I wouldn't care if we only took OL and DL guys the whole draft. I'd start with Sewell and go from there, depending on how the board fell.
sparky151
We certainly need upgrades on both lines. But we could use a good CB so we don't have to play Sims and in case we don't re-sign WJ3. I'd like to sign Thuney in FA plus a rusher too, maybe Lawson, maybe someone from another team. If we keep WJ3, fine, if not we need to use a day 2 pick at CB. I'm less worried about the D-line than the O-line. We desperately need a better O-line coach but also some talent upgrades too.

Taking Sewell or taking another position? taking sewell. based on the last 50 years, there’s a 50% chance he’s at least a 3 time pro bowler. also the OT position has the highest HOF rate of any other position with top 5 picks between 1980 and the early 2000s
