Of all the starters he was the most expendable, which is messed up to say. One of those big fast combine receivers who can't get separation. He falls far behind Hill, Kelce and Hunt on the priority list, but you have to think they’d like his depth/reliability given Maclin’s walking papers. Jakuvious Posted October 10, 2017 Share Posted October 10, 2017 I said in the KC forum, Conley is probably the most expendable starter on the team that this could've happened to, as heartless as that may sound. He has a somewhat unique role in our offense. He doesn't run a great variety of routes, but a lot of his role is to be the guy to pull coverage away to set up opportunities for Kelce and Hill in the parts of the field he vacates. He's also a valuable asset as a blocker for screens and the run game. But these are things that Demarcus Robinson can probably replicate for the offense. Conley isn't terribly great at getting open and it's never really a major part of our gameplan to get him the ball, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
