2 foreign names have shown interest in the USMNT job, Sam Allardyce and Laurent Blanc. I'm not sure if the USSF would go for another foreign name so soon after Jurgen but these are 2 high profile names.

I just can't see either of those guys getting the position. Allardyce would probably fit the style of play best but I just can't USSF making that hire.

Haven't followed Blanc closely enough to really comment on him, but just from a PR perspective alone I think Sam has 0 chance.

Blanc is a worse PR nightmare than Sam. Blanc tried to set a cap on Arab and African players for the French national team.

Squad for the friendly against Portugal.

Excited to see Sargent and McKinnie in there. Jonathan Gonzalez not getting called up is a bit of a worry. Seems it might just be because of Liga MX playoffs, it's hopefully not a sign that he's having second thoughts on representing us rather than Mexico.

So glad that they're finally giving youth a chance and guys like Lichaj finally being called up. We just need to give in to a youth movement and let the young guys have their chance.

I would've liked to seen a little stronger squad just so the young guys had a fair crack. I haven't looked at Portugal's squad (but saw Ronaldo is out) but putting a bunch of prospects on the field at the same time isn't really fair to them to prove themselves.
