Yes, 8-8 after going 7-9 and I believe 4-12 two years ago is trending in the right direction.  Our offense is clearly trending in the right direction.  The offense is stagnant at the bottom and clearly needs to be improved.  Keep the offense relatively the same and improve the defense, and we continue trending in the right direction.

Blowing the playoffs and finishing a season 2-5 is not trending in the right direction.

The offense will face attrition on the Oline and their top WR is likely to leave in FA. Sounds like the offense has some challenges in staying relatively the same.

Just a reminder for those that say DC is the problem.

lol... what a dumb thing to post. Cherry picking one season in a down AFC West. They were 20th in points allowed. The big stat the +16 turnover differential.

Derek Carr is not the problem, but he's also not the solution either if we're talking about winning Championships. His best days, he can beat the Chiefs. His worst days... he can completely fall apart under pressure and lose all composure. That's not a playoff QB

3 plays from being 5-11.

Don't see how you can watch the team the last two seasons collapse and feel like we're trending in the right direction.

one half of the team is built(and yall wanna get rid of the key piece. Just got to work on the defense and depth across the roster. Offense took us to 8-8 basically by itself.

ignore the fact hes never had better than a top 20 defense, while claiming he isnt the solution. Yall play blind wayy too much in here.

thing is no one else can say they beat the Chiefs, and DC did it with no defense. Shoulda beat em twice but you know the story.

Yall on Bradys nuts, but he just threw three picks in the NFC Championship game, just imagine if DC was afforded a mulligan once in a while without the whole game falling apart. Defense is straight garbage and were still in here talking about DC, but as long as its just a few posters in here with a grudge and not the HC or GM, im good!

The OL already faced attrition with Inc and Brown going down.  We can easily resign Good and essentially have four of last seasons starters for the upcoming season.  We can easily replace Brown or Inc with a LG or RT that is actually available.  Our top WR had like 40 receptions for 800 yards and with the FA and rookie WRs available this offseason, is much easier to replace than most other offseasons.

As for your finishing 2-5, we still went 8-8, and we still had an offense that went from ranking in the 20s to #10 in scoring.  The team is trending in the right direction whether you care to see it or not.

Literally everything you post in this thread is dumb.

Chiefs went 12-4 that season too last time I checked.  And yes thank you, they were 20th in points allowed and we literally went 12-4 (12-3 with DC).  Keep talking about the turnovers, just proves my point that with a middle of the pack defense we can get it done.

Aaron Rodgers lost to a Tom Brady led team that had 3 picks in the second half.  Aaron Rodgers is 1-3 in the NFC championship (something like that, really don't follow all stats but know enough to get by).  I'm sure Brees' record in the playoffs isn't much better.  Only two QBs that haven't buckled consistently under pressure in the playoffs is Mahomes and Brady.  Even Peyton Manning lost more than he won when it came to the playoffs, and last time I checked Manning is one of the best to ever do it.

you mean when ferrell got 2 strip sacks against the jets? or when the d was basically shut down on the chiefs in the 2nd half opposed from a garbage late score? Week 8 against the browns holding them to 6? Broncos to 12? Look at our wins, our d stepped up at times, and Carr had help in the wins we did have. stop acting like our d didn't make a play last year.

i dont get it man, we were 3 plays away from being 11-5, but in here its a complete dumpster fire. lol wut

Everybody needs to get over two games.  One we should have one and another we should have lost.  If we want to take into account freak plays Jets and Dolphins cancel each other out.  Should have beaten the Dolphins at home and lost to a bad Jets team in the cold.

Carr has never had a top 20 defense.  What he has had is a team that focuses 2/3s of its resources to give him what he needs.  Second best player on the defense since Carr has been here is a 38 year Charles Woodson.  We have ignored the defense to try and make him a better player.  Yes it is hard to win with a bad defense but it is hard to build a good defense when you have to dedicate so much to that player.  On top of that when we have used resources on defense we have received horrible value.

Stop doubting Watson who had his team 4-12 with a slightly better defense than ours?  I don't really know what to say to that.

It isn't speculation, it's just common sense that with a decent defense our record should easily improve.

Speculation when it doesn't fit your Carr Narrative, Common sense when it does fit your narrative. Right....

In reality your staking your claim on what if scenarios
