thing is no one else can say they beat the Chiefs, and DC did it with no defense. Shoulda beat em twice but you know the story.

You are right the defense did nothing that game.  Just held the Chiefs to 40 yards in the 2nd half before they scored a garbage time TD when we had the game locked up.  But Carr carried the team that game.  Oh I forgot to mention that 7 of KC's 1st half points they had to drive 28 yards after a Carr Int.  So the defense gave up a total of 17 relevant points that game.  But he did it with no defense.  You should probably go back and watch that game.

Yall on Bradys nuts, but he just threw three picks in the NFC Championship game, just imagine if DC was afforded a mulligan once in a while without the whole game falling apart. Defense is straight garbage and were still in here talking about DC, but as long as its just a few posters in here with a grudge and not the HC or GM, im good!

The only QB or player who has reached the Super bowl 10 times now has taken a team who was a perennial loser for the last 17 years to the super bowl. Recognize greatness when you see it

DC on the other hand has played losing football for the majority of his career. Oh that right it was the defense why he led the league in Sack Fumbles or why we were near the bottom of the league in Redzone TDs. Are you even watching the games?

We spent about 55m on guys like Mariota, TW, Nassib, Trent and Incognito who provided next to nothing as a group, spent two 3rds on guys who didnt even see the field for us.

You dont think we can get better with the money we will be saving when we cut a few of those guys or when Trent is 100%, or when we get some production from guys who by MM's account shouldve been first year starters?

How is that on Carr? Yea we spent a ton of money on offense, but 50m of that was on the sidelines last season.

The same reason that everyone complained that Carr had no help on defense so we ignored the other side of the ball.  So now when we are still not a playoff team we have say its because we had no defense.  No kidding we did not have a defense.  We have been giving Carr 2/3s of the talent we acquire.

It seem like some posters fail to consider that not all points given up by the defense is equal. There were times where the offense put them in bad positions. Did the defense stink this year? Yes but to say that Carr carried the entire team while the defense just gave everything up isn't true at all. Carr

Tom Brady always had a great defense.

Yeah Because Carr always played with a short field because defense got so many sacks and turnovers.

The Raiders were 29th in the NFL with turnover ratio with -11 and probably the same with field position

Speculation when it doesn't fit your Carr Narrative, Common sense when it does fit your narrative. Right....

In reality your staking your claim on what if scenarios

If we literally had the #1 scoring defense in the NFL we would have a better record, that isn't speculation.  It's essentially fact.  I mean we could call it speculation but the #10 scoring offense and #1 scoring defense just IMO, would have a much better record than the #10 scoring offense and #29 scoring defense.

What I'm staking my claim on is that we don't need to get rid of DC, we need to improve the defense.  I believe we are more likely to make the playoffs with a middle of the pack defense, then a hypothetical trade for Watson using 2-3 first round picks, players, later picks, etc., which I believe could possibly destroy the future of our team.

you mean when ferrell got 2 strip sacks against the jets? or when the d was basically shut down on the chiefs in the 2nd half opposed from a garbage late score? Week 8 against the browns holding them to 6? Broncos to 12? Look at our wins, our d stepped up at times, and Carr had help in the wins we did have. stop acting like our d didn't make a play last year.

thing is the defense is supposed to make plays, thats what good teams have. The problem is they didnt make nearly enough.

We scored 40. At what point does the offense start getting credit?

Carr has never had a top 20 defense.  What he has had is a team that focuses 2/3s of its resources to give him what he needs.  Second best player on the defense since Carr has been here is a 38 year Charles Woodson.  We have ignored the defense to try and make him a better player.  Yes it is hard to win with a bad defense but it is hard to build a good defense when you have to dedicate so much to that player.  On top of that when we have used resources on defense we have received horrible value.

Yea, Gruden built the offense up first, hes an offensive minded HC. But, Littleton, Joyner, Nassib, Kwit, along withhigh picks in Ferrell, Abram, Arnette and Mullen make up a lot of resources allocated to that side of the ball. Thats 8 premium assets weve spent in just the last two years for a bottom 3 defense.

the Bucs won 7 games with a QB that threw 30 picks, lets not act like hes carrying some bottom feeder.
