Ravens WR Dez Bryant tests positive for COVID-19

Just so it's clear what happened - Dez Bryant does not have a positive COVID PCR test....yet.

Don't know how his inconclusive PCR test didn't come back until he took the field - that's a very legit question.

But, from the above - the only choice that the team was left with was to administer the point-of-care antibody test - which has a significant false positive rate (why they use it as the 1st test, and then if it's positive - they do the PCR test).       The only safe thing they can do is pull Dez.   But it's actually very possible that Dez doesn't have COVID - he'll likely get a repeat PCR test today - and this should be positive (inconclusive could have been too early to pick up a positive test with infection, but if that's the case, he should convert to positive).   Either way, the only safe thing to do is to pull him - and start contact tracing.

As for the contact tracing/risk - keep in mind it's prolonged close contact - and it's far worse risk-wise if you're indoors.   If ppl came together for a quick chat and hug, it's a lot lower risk-wise than being on the same team, in meetings indoors, and travelling / eating together.    There's a reason why transmission hasn't occurred yet from team to team, but within teams.    It underscores why distancing, masking and proper hand hygiene matter so much - your own team is the far greater risk.

The next day or so should confirm Dez's situation, but keep the above in mind, before automatically assuming Dez is positive.   Aside from why the PCR inconclusive test result took so long to arrive, the actions last night were precautionary, and correct.   Just won't know yet if he's a true positive until the PCR tests confirm.

The best part is that the Ravens' PR team are deleting all tweets of Dez Bryant hugging Cowboys players/coaches before the game, and the NFL said there were no "close contacts" to Dez. The league's protocols are such a joke.

The Baltimore Ravens: Injurying players on the field with dirty plays, and using biological warefare off of it.

No one cares. He won't be missed or highly saught after. This hurts him actually cause he looks like a child. Good luck, maybe the XFL will give you a shot when it returns.

I don't think you understand how desperate the Ravens were/are for a receiver.
