Picking up where the last thread left off...

Started up Sword and Scale. This one is turned up to 11, wow. Intense.

Oh nice, I subscribed to it but never got around to starting it.

I no longer commute for two hours a day, so my podcast listening has been way down.

But I love the Cracked Podcast, they do a great job of coming up with topics

The only one now I listen to is "Pod Save America."

It's a political podcast from some Obama's former speechwriters. If you don't lean left, you probably won't like it.

The makers of Last Podcast on the Left have a Podcast called Abe Lincolns Top-hat. It very good too, they're quite funny as well. It's my wife's favorite podcast.

One host in firmly rooted in the left and the other host is a from a family of super-conservatives but he's converted to a left leaning libertarian. They've very well informed, if nothing else.

I know a lot of people love the Jericho Network on Podcast One for the wrestling podcasts, but seriously the best thing on that network is the Team Tiger Awesome Show.  ET, this is right up your alley; it's 80's kids all grown up and talking about the most inane, random pop culture references and getting very NSFW (the 4th of July episode featured Create-Your-Own American Historical Figure Literotica).  My sides split every episode.  And it drops on Sundays, so it's seriously the best fix for a case of the Mondays out there.

Podcasts I subscribe to:

- The Daily (by the New York Times. My favorite. They go through the feature story in the paper and also give a quick overview on other stories. All of this in 20 minutes. And there's a new episode Monday to Friday)

- Pod Save America (someone mentioned it above)

- The Weeds (a policy podcast by Vox.com)

- The Solid Verbal (a college football podcast that's really light and funny)

- Lovett or Leave It (from the makers of Pod Save America that features panels with actors, writers, and comedians)

- Whistlestop (a podcast by John Dickerson, host of CBS's Face the Nation. He goes through old stories of political events that aren't very well known and often times he shows how they had huge consequences)

I'd strongly recommend them all.

But Barstool is trash and doesn't deserve the clicks. Which makes it hard to justify listening for me anymore.

I don't do a whole lot of reading their site, but Big Cat and PFT are really talented and the podcast is awesome

also would recommend Spittin' Chiclets to any hockey's fans......very good as well

You should check out the other Crooked Media podcasts as well (if you don't already).

PSA fits nicely between Pod Save the World and Lovett or Leave It in terms of entertainment value.

I really like the Jocko Podcast. It's by a former Navy SEAL named Jocko Willink. He doesn't discuss politics (that I know of) and there's no political lean that's shoved in your face, though he's a patriotic guy so you get what you expect. He talks broadly about leadership and discipline. But what I find most interesting is that he talks about some very, very dark subject matter. On one episode he had a Vietnam veteran who was shot down from his plane and they talked hours about how dark war is, including being tortured. If you love war, history, and dark material there's some good stuff there. But the podcast strives to be intelligent and it's not just a bunch of military guys cussing and whatever or talking about things purely for shock value. One podcast I listened recently featured the wife of a SEAL buddy, who spoke about talking to your kids about sexual abuse. She describes how she was raped and molested as a child by a family "friend"/neighbor and how she couldn't come clean about it. So it's not all about war. But yeah, pretty dark stuff, but I think there's value in talking openly about these things.

I've only ever listened to one podcast and I'd recommend it to anyone who is into British humour.

My Dad Wrote A Porno

It's 3 presenters reading literature written by one of their fathers. It's meant to be an erotic novel but it's hilarious for its numerous grammatical errors and there commentary of it.
