The Rams' pass D might be their biggest weakness but luckily they play a very soft schedule in terms of opposing pass offenses.

Alexander was having a bad year but I'm not sure they have anyone noticeably better

Our run defense has been our biggest weakness thus far. Our pass defense is average to above average by every metric despite an uncharacteristic game by Hoyer:

And we actually do have someone noticeably better. We benched Alexander (who had major issues with his coverage responsibilities) for our third round rookie, John Johnson. Johnson actually had a strong game against Seattle. He picked off a pass and nearly took it back for a TD (60+ yards). He also had his hands on another ball while playing centerfield but couldn't quite come down with it. On top of that, he tackled well when asked to make plays. Jimmy Graham caught a fade for a TD against him, but there wasn't much he could do (although, I do expect him to play it better as he gets more experience).

Maurice played well last year in GW's scheme, but he just isn't fitting in the scheme this year. Based on his limited snaps, Johnson is a far better player in this scheme. His Int off of Wilson:

There were some reports that he wasn't buying in on the Wade system and was vocal about it in practices also his play on the field was bad enough he was a healthy inactive after starting the first 4 weeks. Johnson stepped in and was much better so Alexander who's in a contract year became expendable when we needed a roster spot for Michael Thomas.
