To be honest, this year is an anomaly for Wilson.  Is it that this is his true potential? Or is it that they played a weak schedule in a weird, Covid affected year?

Beyond the numbers its the ability that is intriguing. The arm talent is top tier, his adjustment to NFL defenses and speed will be interesting. He's definitely a guy you wanna sit to start his career.

lol I just didn't realize how locked on Law people were that they didn't even watch other QBs.

I'm not worried about Wilson physically, but I am worried about this year being a fluke because how dramatically different his stats are from the year before. He wasn't good at all the year before, but sometimes players need time to learn. It's a concern though.

Trey Lance I believe will be playing in Spring. I think their whole conference shifted the season to spring. It makes things weird but I saw everything I'm looking for out of him. He just has to do it again. Even in the one game they played, he threw amazing passes and his athletes dropped them. I probably won't change from him until the season. Wentz's stats can't even compare to the year Lance had last season.

Adding on to why I love Lance. People see the big runs and assume he's a running QB, but he's amazing in the pocket.

I actually get that more from Fields.  Wilson has shown the ability to read defenses and go through reads which is my biggest concern for Fields.  Fields gets locked on a guy and doesn't move safeties with his eyes yet.  Wilson does that already.

The question will be can he do it against NFL defenses like with any prospect and we wont know until he steps on the field.

Admittedly, I haven't watched enough college football to give an informed opinion. Having said that, Wilson would be my guy from what I have seen.

The main difference being Sam's fifth year option - would anyone feel comfortable paying him $25M? This team is in dire need of talent, and building around a rookie QB contract is the best option IMO. Sucks, considering Lawrence, in theory, would've accelerated the rebuild but I think we should the stay the course, it is what it is.

Agreed but you got to start somewhere.  I really like Fields too.  I like both because they are both strong armed mobile QBs who are accurate.  Those things translate.

Both have flaws and will have growing pains I just think Wilson is slightly further along being NFL ready.

Kid hasn't played great defenses but he also isn't playing with NFL WRs either.  Just as a type this Wilson goes over 400 yards.

I like the arm, but that's a poor decision. He stared down that guy and threw right into triple coverage. This guy needs to sit a year or two, which is not a luxury our fans usually provide for a rookie QB.

@xrade against Indiana he had 300 tds and 2 tds in the air, 78 and a td on the ground.  He led them to victory.

as for the wr discussion, is that not the main defense for Darnold?  Everyone says “give him weapons and he’ll be good”.  Well, so far with all his weapons, Darnold hasn’t looked great.

Against Indiana he had a 2:3 TD:Int ratio passing wise. That will not work in the NFL. Again, maybe Fields will pan out but I still see him as a reach at #2 and I am still not so sure he is better than some of the other QB prospects.

Not sure what WR discussion you are referring to. You said he did not have Olave. I countered with he had Wilson. I also stated that if he is going to fold without his favorite target, that would be / is not good. This has nothing to do with Sam. If you have read my previous posts regarding Sam, you would know that I think Sam is broken.

I voted for Sam but I think "other" is a real option.  I think there is a real chance we sign a free agent QB, trade Sam to give both him and the team a fresh start.  I don't think any of the other rookie qb's are worth #2, and if someone else does, we can trade back and get some extra picks.  Here is a list of some potential QB's I think we could end up with starting;

Dak Prescott, IF Dallas decided to move on because of the huge salary concerns, I would hope we gift wrapped $40 million a year for him........ agreed it's a very long shot

Jameis Winston, 121 td's to 88 ints career, 5000+ yards once and 4000+ 2 other times, more TD's than ints every year in the league, reminds me of Vinny Testaverde, better than Sam past and present

Marcus Mariota, yes under contract w/ LV for 2021 but could be had for a late pick, looked good coming in for Carr, probably not much better than Sam, but not worse

Carson Wentz, Im throwing up in my mouth just typing his name, I would stop being a Jets fan forever if this happened, but with Joe Douglas having worked in Philly, he might remember the good Wentz ........ omg throwing up in my mouth again......

Mitch Trubisky...... omg more mouth vomit.....

I think Sam has as much chance as any of the rookies not names Trevor Lawrence of becoming a good starter, so why draft another project?  Either give Sam some weapons and another year or sign someone like Winston on the cheap (thing Teddy Bridgewater money $20 per year) and surround him with extra weapons based on the reduced starting QB salary.

P.S. draft Penei Sewell and have the best OT combo in the league for the next 8-10 years

Zack Wilson is not a given.  He had a great year vs inferior competition.

53 td - 15 int career is not earth shattering and he only had 1 great year this year 30 td - 3 int.  2019 11 td - 9 int and 2018 12 td - 3 int.

One of the best talent evaluators of all time Bill Parcell,  rules for drafting a QB, and he's WAY smarter than all of us combined.

  • Be a three-year starter. = no, 2 1/2 YEARS
  • Be a senior in college. = NO
  • Graduate from college. = NO
  • Start 30 games. = NO 29 GAMES
  • Win 23 games. = NO ONLY 20 GAMES WON
  • Post a 2-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. = YES
  • Complete at least 60 percent of passes thrown. = YES

He may be good, but not worth the #2 pick in the draft

Mac Jones had better stats against way better competition, and I wouldn't draft him #2 either.

Mac Jones isn’t a good prospect though, plays with the best skill players in the country, one of the best OL in the country. Mac has a limited arm and isn’t a great athlete. Could be and Andy Dalton type guy at the next level but I wouldn’t bet on him. Wilson is the type of guy you take a chance on, great arm, good athlete, has crazy ball placement, just needs some refinement.
