Why is that an issue? Just a HZ thing? lol

Yes.  If I was a player playing in frigid temperatures in Lambeau Field in December through January, I'd feel a lot better about taking calls from someone who was right there with me than someone comfortable and warm eating a hot dog while Aaron Rodgers is on the field and washing it down with hot cocoa.

Haha fair enough. I would hope that would never actually affect anything, but who knows.

Defensive consistency year to year is one of the most variable things in the NFL.  Since 2011

Pts: 19, 11, 24, 13, 12, 21

DVOA: 25, 8, 31, 16, 9, 20

Capers was once an excellent DC.  In 2009 and 2010.  Following that, he has led frequently poor, sometimes average, and occasionally good squads.  If you give any qualified DC 6 years, they will put together a top 10 D at least once.

We can no longer judge Capers by what happened in 2009 and 2010.  NFL offenses are much more prepared for his tactics, and we no longer have anywhere close to that level of talent.

So, mr. Capers.  what exactly is it ya say you do here?

See Capers is better cause he did it twice.

If he gets fired the most likely replacement would be Winston Moss, is everyone okay with that?

This is my point. I don't think Winston Moss is a better DC than Capers.

I would have liked Kris Richards from Seattle back when he got hired, but he was likely unavailable. He had a nice gig going there.

Cap wise, it's a significantly heavier investment on offense

It is true that the Pack is devoting more (financial) resources to the offense in 2017, but that certainly has not been the case the last several years. In 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013, the team devoted more, often far more, of the salary cap to the defense.

In fact, over the past four seasons, the Pack’s spending on the D has ranked 6th (2016), 9th (2015), 2nd (2014), and 9th (2013) overall among NFL teams.

In addition, since Dom arrived in 2009, the Pack has used seven 1st round picks and six 2nd round picks (or 13 premium picks in total) on the defense in comparison to just two 1st round picks and four 2nd round picks (or 6 in total) on the offense.

Thus, there has been a (disproportionate) financial and draft investment in favor of the defense over the past several years.

Of course whether the offense deserves an equal (or even greater) share of responsibility for the team’s inability to advance to the Super Bowl is a completely separate subject.

How 'bout waiting for Ragland to be released?  Get him for free?

I guess he isn't a fit in the Bills system but I don't think they would just release. Wouldn't be surprised to see him traded from all the reports out of Buffalo. How much of an upgrade is he though over Ryan and Martinez? He wasn't a great athlete coming out of college, and he is coming off an ACL injury.

A huge upgrade.  The position is devalued slightly, but this is a 1st round talent coming off a hugely productive college career and an injury in his rookie season.

He would be the best tackler on the team immediately, and would be the toughest guy who isn't a DL.  He's a similar athletic profile to Dont'a Hightower.
