2021 DB Prospects

Pretty solid group of corners in terms of depth, a lot of the lower ranked guys could be as good as some of the higher ranked ones, sure still more will declare.  No clear superstars but some guys could turn out to be solid pros.    Guys like Mukuamu, Thompson, Daniel, Lenoir, Norwood could end up being a lot better than some think.  Even Melifonwu has a ton of physical ability.  Even a Kelvin Joseph or Marco Wilson have a lot of upside and are pretty talented, so is Adebo who had a rough 2019 season but shows tons of ability.  And Zech McPhearson has some great ball skills and had a fine season.

Cam Taylor-Britt and Jack Jones returned to school which is a surprise, Taylor-Britt arguably could be top 5 in this group if he worked out well, he is a hell of a tackler.

Overall though surprisingly deep group of corners potentially which matches a already deep group of safeties who have more star power than these corners do arguably.  You have 8 who could be considered 1st round picks but many will fall to the 2nd round.

Depends what role you play him as. I think he can be great in a Mathieu type role where he is an inside CB/Safety

Yeah Wade definitely isn't an outside CB.  Malcolm Jenkins/CJGJ/Mathieu are all good examples of what Wade should look to be in the NFL.

Pete Carroll once he lays eyes on Israel Mukuamu

They have DJ Reed Jr who is pretty legit as a corner and has played great for them, also have Tre Flowers obviously as well so not sure CB is a huge need.  They could get Keith Taylor who is arguably more impressive than Mukuamu and Myles Jones is a long corner as well.  They have to go with OL, that offensive line sucks and Russell gets hit far too often, they should really draft two offensive lineman in this draft.

Very nice take! Tre Norwood was thrown into the 3rd or 4th quarter of Bedlam (OU vs Ok St) about 2 or 3 years ago as a Freshman when the upperclassman ahead of him couldn't stop the Cowboys passing game. He made an IMMEDIATE difference. Shut down performance. It was impressive.

Surtain's excellent work in the playoff may have cemented him as the top corner in the draft as long as nothing raises questions from the combine.  Notre Dame didn't have the best tests for him, but he matched up on Olave and Wilson from Ohio State like no one else has in the last two years.
