Sucks but it was really the only choice; every other game with playoff implications were dependent on other games.

Meanwhile, Washington is in a win-and-in scenario. The Eagles are eliminated from post-season contention but can play spoiler to the Football Team, who defeated them in Week 1, to allow the Giants or Cowboys to earn a playoff bid, depending who wins that earlier game.

Because you have wildcard teams and those missing the playoffs in the AFC with better records than division champs and wildcard teams in the NFC.

Just because the NFC is better top to bottom this year, so there's more parity within the NFC itself.

The quality of the NFC teams is superior to the AFC teams even at the top, but it's definitely more pronounced at the middle and bottom tiers.

Is that why, of the teams currently in the playoffs if the season ended today, those AFC teams are a combined 24-4 against NFC opponents while those teams in the NFC were only 16-12 against their AFC opponents?

Another fun note - there's not a single NFC team that was 4-0 in out-of-conference games this season, and just three who went 3-1 versus the AFC. Conversely, there were four AFC teams to sweep their NFC opponents 4-0 (more than the combined amount of NFC teams to go 3-1 versus the AFC or better), and another four AFC squads to go 3-1 versus the NFC (for a total of eight AFC teams with a winning record versus the NFC, compared to the NFC's three with winning records over the AFC).

But sure, the NFC is "superior".

H2h matchups are silly.

Look at DVOA. NFC is slightly better at every tier.

Overall out of conference matches are a perfect indicator, actually.

DVOA is a tool. A pretty good tool as far as tools go but give me the conference who dominated the other in actual wins against the other, thanks.

DVOA already accounts for all matchups, including inter-conference. So it takes your "perfect" indicator, and adds context.
