MikeT14
I've got a fun thread idea I have been working on. I think it'll be somewhat controversial, somewhat fun, and mostly just plain sad. As you may know, Washington released Dwayne Haskins this week, solidifying another bust of a QB pick by this franchise. Since 1993 - the first post-Gibbs season - the Washington franchise has trotted out 30 different quarterbacks to start a game. Depending on the health of Alex Smith, Taylor Heinicke might be #31. So how did the other 30 fare? I plan to rank all 30 different starters, from worst to first, based on their time starting in Washington from the 1993 season to present. My parameters for ranking? Stats, W/Ls, memories, and exasperation of making a decision. Hopefully you can discuss from it. I'd also like to include trivia along the way if I can. Stats were compiled as best as I could. There will be some issues, but it shouldn't hurt the grand scheme of things. Without further ado.... 448 185 261 41.3% 98,480 529 409 48 Rank Starts Wins Losses Win % Passing Yards Passing TDs INTs Rushing TDs Kirk Cousins 1 57 26 30 45.61% 16,206 99 55 13 Brad Johnson 2 27 17 10 62.96% 6,510 35 28 3 Alex Smith 3 16 11 5 68.75% 3,400 15 10 1 Robert Griffin III 4 35 14 21 40.00% 8,097 40 23 8 Gus Frerotte 5 46 19 26 41.30% 9,769 48 44 3 Mark Brunell 6 33 15 18 45.45% 6,033 38 20 - Jason Campbell 7 52 20 32 38.46% 10,860 55 38 3 Trent Green 8 14 6 8 42.86% 3,233 21 11 2 Todd Collins 9 3 3 0 100.00% 664 3 - - Tony Banks 10 14 8 6 57.14% 2,386 10 10 2 Patrick Ramsey 11 24 10 14 41.67% 5,649 34 29 2 Colt McCoy 12 7 1 6 14.29% 1,369 5 7 1 Kyle Allen 13 4 1 3 25.00% 610 4 1 1 Shane Matthews 14 7 3 4 42.86% 1,251 11 6 - Rex Grossman 15 16 6 10 37.50% 3,991 23 24 1 Donovan McNabb 16 13 5 8 38.46% 3,377 14 15 - Jeff Hostetler 17 3 2 1 66.67% 899 5 7 - Mark Rypien 18 10 3 7 30.00% 1,514 4 10 3 Danny Wuerffel 19 4 2 2 50.00% 648 3 4 - John Friez 20 4 1 3 25.00% 1,016 8 7 - Josh Johnson 21 3 1 2 33.33% 590 3 4 1 Rich Gannon 22 4 1 3 25.00% 582 2 4 1 Case Keenum 23 8 1 7 12.50% 1,549 10 5 1 Tim Hasselbeck 24 5 1 4 20.00% 842 4 6 - Dwayne Haskins 25 13 3 10 23.08% 2,753 12 10 1 Heath Shuler 26 13 4 9 30.77% 2,162 12 14 - John Beck 27 3 0 3 0.00% 741 2 4 1 Jeff George 28 7 1 6 14.29% 1,414 6 9 - Cary Conklin 29 2 0 2 0.00% 327 3 2 - Mark Sanchez 30 1 0 1 0.00% 38 - 2 -

Came into a tough situation after injuries to Smith and McCoy. In his lone start he was pulled for Josh Johnson after barely being able to function as the starter in the game. His time in Washington came as quickly as it went thankfully.

That said, he didn't win any of his two starts in 1993, and his career was all but done after that.

He was also chosen over Brad Johnson, someone who will obviously be much higher on this list. George was benched following an 0-2 start in 2001. All three are from before 2010. Bonus as well. None of them started more than 14 games. All of them were backups before becoming the starter with the team. His three starts were full of nothing. He got shut out once, and was sacked 10 times in one of the games. They realized their mistake and he was benched again.
