Doesnt have a very high bar to hurdle in terms of Mortal Kombat movies, but Im not expecting much.

At best, Im expect something along the lines of the Tomb Raider reboot movie as far as quality goes.   Its supposed to ramp up the violence...which is the only thing that has me excited.

Mortal Kombat Legacy was well done I thought. IIRC an Indy filmmaker got some famous friends to help out. It’s all on YouTube I believe.

I never liked the games, but I’ve always thought two things:

1. This property would make a great series of films if done correctly.

2. The game would be amazing if it was turned into an RPG type of game instead of just a fighting game.

As far as this adaptation, I think it’s going to suck, I think probably coke snorters got their hands in it, and I think the movie will whiff on what would make it a good property to adapt.

Hopefully I’m wrong.

Wow that trailer actually doesn't look half-bad. Loved that they released a Red Band trailer right from the outset. At the very least, I can rest easy knowing that it's a true MK movie this time around.

And the fatalities actually looked pretty dope. Not digging the CGI blood, though. Why did they ditch practical blood? It feels like EVERY R/unrated film uses it now, it looks fake.

Still loving the fatalities, though, and definitely looking forward to seeing the whole thing.

I think it’s purposely so it looks that fake. There’s only so close to “reality” you want to get with this stuff when it’s being presented to a mass audience. Especially with how many fatalities there likely will be, they aren’t going for pure gore porn. Using that digitized blood makes it feel closer to the video game, and it also allows you to use that blood how you want to (frozen blood dagger!!!)
