I just think Florida is the one school that might be able to lure him back. He has the talent to immediately be in NC contention, Spurrier is involved in the AD (him and Stoops are very tight), and Stoops got his big break based on what he did at UF (and UF got a NC). There were rumors that we got him to listen when he was at OU. He might decide that he wants one last run after a year off. But he may also want to stay retired, enjoy his money, and enjoy his freedom. Either ways, I just hope we have the balls to fire McElwain. It should have been done last year. I give zero effs about the escorts. The guy can do whatever he wants on his own time. I also don't care about the rumors about him paying players. We all know that UF players are being paid under the table. The thing for me is that he is an incredible recruiter, he won at Ole Miss (which is incredibly difficult to do), and he had surprising success against Bama. I know it won't happen because of the stink around him right now (same with Art Briles, whose stink is much worse), but he's a far better coach than McElwain. While I would have no problem with it, I can't imagine the Boosters not throwing a huge fit with UAA. Remember our Boosters are very conservative. It is the whole reason why we didn't hire Strong. Mac was brought in to fix the offense while still benefiting from a talented defense. Mac has failed. ------------------------------------------------ It might be early, but I think PJ Fleck could also do wonders at Florida. Scalamania
Quote On Monday, McElwain met with the media to discuss the upcoming game against Georgia, but his press conference took a different tone when he was asked about his coaching staff “hanging in there” through a tough season. He revealed that his family, coaching staff (and their families) and his players have all received death threats.

I think his recruiting skills would kill at a school like UF. Imagine the classes he could pull. As for the death threats, that shouldn't happen and speaks ill of our fan-base (which isn't surprising considering it's full of ignorant rednecks). Scalamania
Quote The University Athletic Association takes the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and families very seriously. Our administration met with Coach McElwain this afternoon and he offered no additional details. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/10/24/16528762/jim-mcelwain-florida-death-threats our coach is a buffoon - BUT maybe if he did lie about this we can terminate him WITH CAUSE and avoid the buyout. Scalamania
Quote If you can’t trust the man you’re paying nearly $5 million a year to run your football program, it’s time to move on to someone else. Here’s the irony in this bizarre ordeal: Whether or not McElwain wants to leave, he might have just given Florida the ammunition to make it happen – and not pay a $12 million buyout. If he doesn’t have additional details or evidence to his claims, or refuses to share what he has, he allows himself to be fired for cause by the university. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/first-and-10-why-jim-mcelwain-must-go/

devils1854
Are any of y'all confident about Saturday because of Florida's dominance over Georgia? Ive read on other sites, whether it be real or false bravado, that other Gator fans really believe they will win Saturday. As a Georgia fan, Im not confident as I should be. The past is definitely a factor for me.

Scalamania
The insider board is hot with talk that Mac wants out and we want him gone. Did some digging and can't find much to support the claim just a bunch of speculation but it seems like the end is near. Also, whoever suggested Stoops as our next HC I'm with you. Give me Stoops, Spavital and I'm sure Stoops would want his brother as our defensive coordinator so I'm fine with that.

Load up the box to stop the run to force Franks to throw and it may get ugly.

After this whole death threats thing where he won't even let the UAA or campus police investigate, I'm starting to really think he's a dead man walking. It may not be this year (though I think if we lose to FSU this year, he's done), but I don't see him here past 2018. There's just too much smoke out there right now about him and the administration/boosters not seeing eye-to-eye.
