Florida coach Dan Mullen confirmed the departure of Texas A&M cornerback transfer Elijah Blades from the team on Monday at his weekly press conference, noting that he kicked the defensive back off the team. Swamp247 confirmed a report from The Athletic on Sunday evening that Blades was no longer with the program.

Mullen did not expand on why Blades was dismissed, but the cornerback had entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal by Monday afternoon.

"We dismissed him from our program," Mullen said. "He's no longer with the team. I met with him and dismissed him from the program yesterday."

Seems like he had a lot of issues with the staff and it just wasn't working out.

Lol neither of them are good. AR has the potential but he’s not very good right now.

He’s also a freshman, he made 2 mistakes today sure they were huge but this game was not his fault. Grantham and this defense let 300+ happen on the ground that’s inexcusable

I mean - 21 points off 4 interceptions when you lose by 7 points says otherwise. There’s plenty of blame to go around but lets not act like either quarterback should be excused from that.

AR led us to TDs on 4 of the 5 second half drives he led. That's 29 points in one half. Do you know what happens when you play freshmen who have barely had any snaps? They make mistakes and force plays. If Dan had started AR against teams like USF and Vandy, he would have gotten a lot of it out of his system. This is on Mullen. Richardson was a revelation.

Once again, There’s plenty of blame to go around - TG, Mullen, the QBs (yes both of them).

There’s a lot of self reflection that needs to be done by the entire staff and all the players in the coming weeks because it’s not going to get any easier. Georgia is going to absolutely mop the floor with this team and that’ll be the moment that Mullen loses everyone.

All of Mullen's problems are self inflicted. Defense still sucking? Well, he kept Grantham around. AR possibly not committed long term? He's the one who's too arrogant to realize that Emory just isn't the guy.

I think he’s probably emotional after a tough loss. He’s a young kid and maybe let his emotions get the best of him with this response.

Still very concerning, though.

On the list of guys deserving blame, Richardson is pretty near the bottom. He is the reason the game was close. He is the reason we had a tie game and only needed a defensive stop to win in the final minutes. Like any freshman who has had limited reps, he made some mistakes and forced some plays he shouldn't have. But we put him in the worst position with the combination of asking him to dig us out of a major hole and having a completely inept defense.
