FRONT OFFICE/COACHING

HC - Saleh: He is my favourite choice for several reasons. I think he can bring that culture to the Lions that is missed and having grown up in the area, understands what it is like to be a fan of the team.

GM - Riddick: I don't dislike him as a potential GM but I don't like the combination of new HC and new GM. He has also been out of the game for quite some time.

OC - Bevell: I think he did a great job as an interim HC. I don't think he will wind up with one of these HC openings this year. If he can get on a team and continue to have the success he did in 2019 and when he was not being held back by MP this year he will be in the mix next year. With all of his experience, he would be a great AHC to Saleh assuming that both guys can work with the dynamic.

TRADES

  • Colts: For the Colts, I think if they are going to trade it's going to be for a proven guy that can get them over the hump with all of the talent they have on both sides of the roster. You have Jacksonville that will be competitive but about two years away from being a division contender, Titans are pretty strong and you have to assume the Texans will bounce back with Deshaun at QB. I honestly see a trade for Stafford being a much better option for them than moving up to #7 and taking a Justin Fields or Trey Lance.
  •
  • KG to Giants: These are a bit more common these days but still quite rare (see below). I don't know if he would wind up with the Giants. They don't have a ton of cap space available and there isn't a ton of wiggle room when you look at things on the surface. I would rather get more compensation back for him but I don't think you're too far off.

FA SIGNINGS

- Yay: Prater, Griffen, Okwara (at a reasonable level) > There's a bit of a cluster at DE without anyone really standing out but hard to complain about DL depth on the cheap. Prater is still a very good kicker

- Nay: AP, Danny, Marvin > I don't see Danny coming back to us. It wouldn't shock me to see him go to Houston. Their new GM was with the Patriots, they have Deshaun and can use WR help. Marvin is going to want to go to a contender. Heck, he could wind up in Indy. He's older and so he's not going to get a lengthy contract or a huge one, but he has shown he can be a very productive #2 and can be leaned on as a #1 when needed.

DRAFT

It's early so it is hard to say whether I like a particular guy or not. Overall, I don't think we've done enough to address the front 7. Newman has some potential but he's over a year removed from the game. Marshall is a nice WR option.

It's not a great draft on the surface of things for me but there are a couple good players in there.

Really good effort overall.

Interesting.  I am somewhat on the fence about the trade.  This team is void of talent and I'm wondering what I'd prefer. Would I rather have a possible more impactful player at number 7, or two first round picks. I know the consensus is going to be take the two firsts, but it would really depend on who was there at 7. If Parsons, or Sewell (very unlikely), or Fields somehow dropped would I want to pass them up? I'm not sure I would.

I'm beginning to really believe if Riddick becomes the GM, I think Marvin Lewis is our coach.  Call it a hunch, but I think this works with the logic of the Lions interviewing the HC first and fitting the GM with him.

Nice take on the draft overall. Nice to see something a little different.

I like the front office, dont mind the free agency and KG trade.  Not a fan of the return for pick 7.  Move that 3rd to a 2nd and it looks better.  Thats a long ways to drop in the draft and moves us out of elite prospects and into much lower hit rate.

The draft I am not overly excited about.  I don't mind Barmore but he isnt a 1st round prospect IMO.  He is ok as a pass rusher on the insane Bama defense but I dont trust he translates well to the NFL as a pass rusher.  This draft is weak on interior DL and feel like this is a reach just because of the lack of depth.  I feel like Hamilcar is solid but that seems high for him. It would be a solid draft and I really like adding to the front 7, just feels a little underwhelming talent wise with the trade down.
