Bring back any one offensive and defensive player for the playoffs

I’m gonna use players only from my lifetime.

Defense:  Tommie Harris (Mike Brown and Charles Tillman are both close seconds)

Offense:  .....this is wayyy tougher.  Forte?  Olsen?  Kreutz?  Cutler?  I really don’t know...shows how bad we’ve been offensively for so long.

Offense has to be Sweetness obviously.  Honorable mentions are Sayers and Forte.

Defense is a tough one but my pick would be Urlacher.  He is really like having a defensive coordinator out there on the field.  He made our defenses so much better and opposing QBs like Rodgers hated playing against him.

Offense: Jimbo Covert our O-line needs improvement(I'll be honest, I don't remember which position he played, I was 8 when we won the Super Bowl)  Honorable mentions-Sweetness, Gault,

Defense: Mike Singletary with him and Mack, our pass rush improves.  Honorable mentions Dent, Danimal, Peppers, Tommie Harris, Tillman, Urlacher

Little hypothetical question. Pick one offensive and one defensive player from the history of the bears to come back and play for us in the playoffs (in their prime obvi)

saw this on fb. What you guys got.

First round picks only edition!

Cade McNown and Shea McClellin

Leonard Floyd and Kevin White

Michael Haynes and Chris Williams

Rex Grossman and Alonzo Spellman

Man this organization really sucks at drafting overall in first round since 1991 (mostly).   Batting avg. is abysmal.  Look at it at let your face melt like you just opened Ark of Covenant:

1991    22    Stan Thomas    OT    Texas
1992    22    Alonzo Spellman    DE    Ohio State
1993    7    Curtis Conway    WR    Southern California
1994    11    John Thierry    DE    Alcorn State
1995    21    Rashaan Salaam    HB    Colorado
1996    13    Walt Harris †    DB    Mississippi State
1997    —    No pick    [t]
1998    5    Curtis Enis    HB    Penn State
1999    12    Cade McNown    QB    UCLA
2000    9    Brian Urlacher ^    LB/S    New Mexico
2001    8    David Terrell    WR    Michigan
2002    29    Marc Colombo    OT    Boston College
2003    14    Michael Haynes    DE    Penn State    [v]
2003    22    Rex Grossman    QB    Florida    [v]
2004    14    Tommie Harris †    DT    Oklahoma
2005    4    Cedric Benson    HB    Texas
2006    —    No pick (traded to Buffalo)    [w]
2007    31    Greg Olsen †    TE    Miami
2008    14    Chris Williams    OT    Vanderbilt
2009    —    No pick (traded to Denver for Jay Cutler)    [x]
2010    —
2011    29    Gabe Carimi    OT    Wisconsin
2012    19    Shea McClellin    DE    Boise State
2013    20    Kyle Long †    OT    Oregon
2014    14    Kyle Fuller †    CB    Virginia Tech
2015    7    Kevin White    WR    West Virginia
2016    9    Leonard Floyd    LB    Georgia
2017    2    Mitchell Trubisky †    QB    North Carolina
2018    8    Roquan Smith    LB    Georgia
2019    —    No pick (traded to Oakland for Khalil Mack)
2020

Look what we did from '79 to '86 in contrast:

1979    4    Dan Hampton ^    DT    Arkansas    [q]
1979    9    Al Harris    DE    Arizona State
1980    19    Otis Wilson †    LB    Louisville
1981    11    Keith Van Horne    OT    Southern California
1982    5    Jim McMahon †    QB    Brigham Young
1983    6    Jim Covert ^    OT    Pittsburgh
1983    18    Willie Gault    WR    Tennessee    [r]
1984    11    Wilber Marshall †    LB    Florida
1985    22    William Perry    DT    Clemson
1986    27    Neal Anderson †    HB    Florida

What a bloody difference.   Even Perry was a stud for a season.   If he didn't become mentally ill he would have been a great pick.

Charles Tillman is an interesting option. With Jaylon out we are using scrap at CB and opposing offenses are doing whatever they want. Tillman instantly helps out in coverage and forces peanut punch turnovers.  Urlacher was all around decent, good speed, good play reading, intelligence, coverage, able to get after the qb, but couldn’t take on blocks lol. Would be an immediate upgrade over Trevathan. Peppers does for the defense what we wanted Quinn to do but never could, and getting prime peppers means getting him at his Carolina best, not Chicago subpar. Tommie Harris also shores up the middle and destroys the run, and opens Mack up. Think I’m rolling with TH here.

On offense, prime Cutty at his best is better than any QB we have or have had. Forte opens up the dink and dunk offense we’ve been running and gives a change of pace for Monty, who is better at other things and is only good at one thing. Bmarsh opens up the offense more, as we’d add a talent in the passing game other than Robinson. OL is kinda intriguing but we aren’t going to find a OL good enough to help the offense fire on all cylinders. The choice between Cutler and Forte is super difficult but I’m rolling with Cutty
