turtle28
Definitely enough to re-sign Scherff, re-sign Darby, give Jon Allen an extension, sign a #2 WR & upgrade MLB & FS.
aceinthehouse
Wouldn't we get more back, if Alex retires? Curious with Landon Collins traded as well. Or restructured...

Or restructured... Alex leaving in any fashion would save us pretty big 2021 cap space. At least $14.7M. But then you’re looking at needing a starting QB, so unless it’s a draft pick, you’re likely going to lose some cap space on that exchange. Would be worth it for some QBs, of course, but you’d have to weigh that tradeoff. Cutting Collins would cost us a bit of money on the 2021 cap — unless they designated it a post June 1 cut, in which case they’d save a significant amount on the 2021 cap, but he would then still count about $9M against the 2022 cap as well. Trading him would save us a couple million in 2021, so perhaps they’ll explore that route. But it would hard to imagine anyone choosing to take on that contract with him coming off a serious injury. Dealing with some other players, re-signing Jonathan Allen would actually likely save them money in 2021. He’s currently under contract for the 5th-year option cost of about $10M, and it’s very unlikely that the first year of a new long-term contract would carry such a large cap number. Especially when we know the 2021 cap will probably be artificially low due to the decreased revenue caused by COVID. There aren’t a ton of other players they could cut loose to save cap space, at least that we’d want to let go. Cutting Morgan Moses ($7M), Matt Ioannidis ($4M), Kendall Fuller ($4M), or Logan Thomas ($2.5M) could free up significant money, but I can’t imagine them choosing to let those guys go. I think there’s a fair chance they might choose to extend Moses, which would likely save them pretty meaningful space in 2021. The most likely casualties that could bring back any decent money are Jon Bostic ($2M) and Peyton Barber (almost $1.5M). Possibly Wes Schweitzer ($3M) if they land another starting guard, but they’d probably still keep him as backup honestly.

lavar703
Hopefully part of this money is taken up by a Matt Stafford trade.
