This isn’t a great depiction of Etienne at all. Etienne gets those constant tough yards just as well as Harris. His passing game skills and pass protection are already there too. To me Harris is a good Bell/McCaffery comp. Harris to me is more prime Ingram; a guy who is primarily a runner who doesn’t kill you in the passing game. He’s just as much of a complete back as Harris. For some reason fans have pigeon holed him as this frail scat back and I don’t get it. His power and durability are so underrated. bigben07MVP
For the record, I am completely against taking Williams in the first. As someone mentioned, he racked up a ton of yards against really bad defenses. He screams David Montgomery to me, which isn’t a terrible thing but just not in the first. Will he be be able to just put his head down and truck LBs and safeties in the NFL like he did at UNC? I have my doubts.
Cbrunn
Etteine coming in at 215 or so at his pro day was big ... That's a good look for him Don't get me wrong I wouldn't be mad with Etteine, he's a good back I just think Harris is better I think harris is so much more then a prime mark ingram ... Harris pass catching skills are greatly underrated Thankfully we'll get to see here come Thursday... I'll be happy with either one but if both are on the board I'm going Harris

Clemson was really pass happy this past year, and even though Etienne was very involved, they didn’t run the ball until they were up big and starters were out. I think the issue with many fans are they watch too many highlights and not enough game films. If you watch game film of Etienne you see a guy that keeps hitting holes and springs one using that next gear when needed. Yea Harris has more 10-20 yard runs. You know what he doesn’t have a ton of? Longer runs where he just gets by guys. He doesn’t have that NFL level next gear when he gets through the line.
MOSteelers56
I see Harris as Steven Jackson. I'd be happy with Harris or Etienne. Not traditionally happy, but I've resigned the fate that we will take a RB in rd. 1, which I think is rarely worth it.

We essentially lost 2 starting CBs and have pretty much nothing behind Haden and Sutton. I just get Vietnam-style flashbacks of reaching for Artie Burns. Im concerned there wont be a CB actually worth taking there....but we will reach on one. I would pray for a trade down. At least pick up an extra mid round pick. Well the media hadn’t suggested it a ton and most casual draft fans are too gun shy from previous draft picks to really consider it. As you said though, it’s just Sutton and Haden as of right now and Haden is in last year of deal and 33. Even if they really like Pierre, he only got decent reps in wk17 IIRC. They gotta add at least 1 CB by end of round 4.

I’ve stated in the past that Etienne has the edge to me because the pass game effect is better day one and he’s a better fit for the Canada system the more I watch. I think both are three down backs in the NFL, but Harris is definitely one of those guys that needs a stable mate who can break one. I see Etienne as the type who doesn’t need one, but would be nice to have a thumper who doesn’t need many snaps.

Seriously, this is his injury history: 2017 - Tweaked hamstring against Syracuse, returned the next game after bye week 2018 - Evaluated for a concussion in the Sugar Bowl, was cleared to return
bigben07MVP
Trying to read between the rumors, smokescreens, tea leaves etc. Here me out... Yesterday, McShay report comes out that the Bills would like to hop the Steelers to take Etienne. Today, Rapoport/Pauline report Najee will not falls past the Steelers. Report also says we "like" Williams if Najee is gone and that we also like Trey Sermon, but no mention of ETN. This leads me to think our target has been Etienne all along? Seems like they want the Bills to think we do not have our eyes on him. What other reason would we have to all of a sudden pump our interest in Harris/Williams/Sermon a few days before the draft? Seems like a response to Bills interest in trading up for ETN if you ask me. Thursday can not come soon enough....

He didn't break a lot of long runs during his career. I'd be fine with either guy, but my choice is Etienne if they're both there. Both are going to be good backs, I'd imagine. I also think Etienne fits Canada's offense better. Harris would fit our offense during the Killer B years.

Sounds like darts are being thrown to cover all bases because the reporters do not know. Again, I would use @kurgan breakdown as a pretty good basis on who the 1st pick could be.
bigben07MVP
@jebrick what are you thoughts on Trey Sermon? I admittedly only watched him in the CFP this year where he looked like an NFL back. I’ve heard vision is his downfall which scares me. Apparently they see “Leveon Bell” traits in Sermon. I could definitely see them taking him at 55 if we go elsewhere in the 1st. MOSteelers56
I know the question wasn't addressed to me, but I view the RB the same way I view the QB class. If we're not getting one of the elite ones, there's no point in drafting one period. Give me Harris, Etienne, or Williams or give me Benny Snell/McFarland/FA?/Ballage.

I think RB is deep and if you don’t get one early, you are best double dipping later.
