I mean, it hurts, but...

Williams wasnt nearly as good after Bush went down.

Alualu is 34 and kind of faded down the stretch.

Losing Hilton hurts, but Sutton should get an expanded role and is a notably better cover corner than Hilton.

Losing Dupree hurts, but as good as he has been the last two years, is not worth what he got paid.   He is to TJ Watt what Woodley was to Harrison and Haggans was to Porter.    He is a better overall athlete than the other 2, but he is not a stand alone star.   Highsmith showed nice glimpses last year, and he doesnt necessarily need to be as good as Dupree was for him to have success.

Losing Alualu arguably hurt the most because we have no immedate replacement, where we do have decent replacements for the others already on the roster.

And obviously, the depth suffers all around.

Agree on all accounts here. Although, I think losing Hilton *may* hurt a fair amount. The steelers defensive scheme often revolves around blitzing Hilton from the edge, and he was amongst the best in the league in this domain. I suspect they'll be doing this far less with Sutton as the primary slot guy so we'll see how this influences the defense as a whole.

I think Highsmith grading as a better pure rusher than Dupree helps this. If we can win with more 4 man rushes rather than blitzing, Sutton becomes extremely valuable.

That said...if they plan on being the same exact team, Sutton’s lack of blitzing and run stopping vs Hilton’s are going to make for a long season.

Losing DB depth always hurts...especially for a team that sucks at drafting them.   But we expected to lose one of them.   Just happy we at least retained Sutton.

Drake to raiders for 2/11 mill and Jamal Williams went to lions for 2/7.5 mill a few days ago...some options going off table at RB.

Wonder if LeVeon would come back...

IMO, Bell isn't a terrible decision. Regardless of his running ability at this point, he is still an exceptionally good pass blocker (do we even have that on this team?) and can still catch passes. He could be insurance that McFarland cant become that third down style guy and puts J. Samuels out of a roster spot. Doesn't stop you from drafting a guy and would limit a rookies need in passing situations.

Provided he came on a minimum and knew his role (which, after KC's playoff run, I am sure he does....), I wouldn't be against it.

*ducks*
