Will Tomlin start to feel any heat after playoff loss?

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin went on record basically saying that even though his team barely squeaked by the Browns the last time they played them, it was because they were playing a lot of scrubs and that they would have no problem beating the Browns with a full compliment of starters.  After the savage beating his team took to those same Cleveland Browns in the Wildcard Round of the playoffs last night, will Mike Tomlin start to feel any heat in Pittsburgh?

It goes without saying that Tomlin has gotta be in discussions to be replaced at some point. He clearly has no long-term QB replacement plan, a poor run game, and his ambivalence for Juju's taunting of other teams is a bad look. As hyperbolic as it may sound to some, that Juju stuff truly may have lost them the game, as it was clear post game that it has made its way through the Browns locker room. And it didn't come out of nowhere just for this game. When Roethlisberger goes, it's gonna get ugly.

Steelers seem to be an organization that will not be quick to make a move like that

I 100% think they need to move on from Ben, and several other older players and contracts

The Steelers actually pretty good at turbo-rebuilds, and I can see them doing something like that in 2021,

Hey Nudie, congrats on your team's win last night!  As Chris Farley used to say:  "That was AWESOME!!!"

In all realism, they're a QB away from still being highly competitive. But, they also have major cap issues, lots of pending FA's, and an overall aging roster. They're going to have to completely rebuild, just like the Ravens did in 2018/19.

Can they do it? Sure, but it's going to likely take multiple years unless a QB falls to them in the latter half of the 1st round like Lamar Jackson did with us.

fun fact: The Steelers haven't fired a head coach since 1969. It's just not something they do.

Admittedly, you can afford that kind of loyalty when you have very good head coaches and rarely have losing seasons. But I feel like when that loyalty mindset is baked into a franchise, it can be tough to cut bait when you should.

Wasnt one of his big critiques (fair or not) just a few years ago that he couldn’t “get ahold” of the boisterous personalities of Brown/Bell/etc.

This year it seems like every week Ebron/JuJu/Claypool were mouthing off on twitter or doing something dumb on social media to give the other team bulletin board material.

Feels like it’s a repeating trend...obv he can’t physically control what players say but you think he’d be done with allowing this kind of thing - at least after losses lol

Here are my thoughts on the matter....

You're not wrong on anything really.

What Pittsburgh needs to do is cut Ben, Haden, Pouncey, and Ebron. Which would save them like ~$45 mil in space

Package some picks to get one of the better QBs (not top 5 pick, but like 10-18 range, ala the way the Texans or Chiefs moved up in 2017)

Extend Watt and DeCastro.. maybe resign Dupree, let Juju go and use the saved cap space to sign a true #1.. Like a Godwin or a Robinson

They have decent youth, but they are one of these teams that are just buried by their vets.. If they make moves like that they probably are a 6 win team in that division in 2021, but at least they go into the following offseason with some cap space

Because right now they are a mess
