sparky151 290
The draft continued and we're mostly through the 3rd round now. With pick 69 we took Jackson Carman. When we took a DE at 50, there were lots of tackles we liked left on the board. But 6 of them went in the next 18 picks and we were down to Carman or Spencer Brown as tackles we liked. So we took the more polished local guy to backup Marcus Cannon at RT. With pick 81 we took DT Marvin Wilson of Florida State. He was dominant in 2018 and 19 then had a poor season last year in a new defensive scheme. He has some similarities with Geno and is a good addition. We don't have a 4th round pick so we'll be back on the clock on Thursday. Free agency round 7 was last night. We made a play for DT Sheldon Richardson but were his 2nd best offer after Tampa. We re-signed Josh Bynes, beating back a lowball Jets offer. We also signed Gio Bernard, Samaje Perine, CJ Uzomah, Cethan Carter, Mike Daniels, Margus Hunt, Brandon Allen, and Christian Covington for minimal salaries that were their only offers. Roster is now up to 82 players with 3 draft picks left and about 6 mil in cap space. We might sign some rookie free agents but are more likely to sign cheap vets. sparky151 290
Our next draft pick is Friday afternoon. Round 8 of free agency was last night. We've re-signed all the 2020 Bengals we plan to so we made some offers to players from other teams. We signed Lawrence Guy and Austin Johnson as upgrades over Mike Daniels and Margus Hunt. We also got the elderly Josh Norman cheap too.

INbengalfan 1,067
Did you partner with Mike Brown? If not, he is still napping with free agency 5 hours old
sparky151 290
Of greatest interest to Brown, we finished 10.2 mil under the cap we were using for the mock (which was higher than what the real cap ended up being). That's about the same amount the team was under the cap for 2020. The original priority was to upgrade the O-line. We missed on Trent Williams by less than 1 million bucks over 4 years which was disappointing. But we got rid of Hart and Jordan probably won't make the team. We signed Corey Linsley in FA, along with Quinton Spain and Richie Incognito to fight for LG, Larry Warford for RG and Marcus Cannon at RT. Then we drafted Jackson Carman for RT. Burrow needs some additional weapons and we gave him Desean Jackson as a deep threat, Kadarius Toney as a gadget player, Tyler Eifert as a receiving TE, and Carlos Hyde as another backup RB. This mock team has a much better defense than the real life team will field. We wanted to upgrade the pass rush and add depth at CB. We re-signed Lawson and Jackson and added Shaq Barrett on an expensive contract. We signed veteran CBs Troy Hill, Cam Sutton, Davontae Harris, and Josh Norman while drafting Caleb Farley (after a round 1 tradedown) and Tay Gowan. Up front we signed Lawrence Guy, Austin Johnson, Ziggy Ansah, and Chris Smith while drafting Jayson Oweh, Joshua Kaindoh, and Marvin Wilson. At LB, we re-signed Bynes, added Reuben Foster in case he can still play and drafted Justin Hilliard. The team could still use a playmaking LB, an explosive receiver, and O-line upgrades. But it should be able to finish above the Steelers and challenge the Browns and Ravens for the AFCN title.

Yeah but your management of the cap by releasing players you just signed seems a little sketchy.

Not sure who you are referring to. I cut quite a few players but nobody signed to a new contract in 2021. Was able to clear most of the Bengals bad contracts other than Mixon's.
