Rough overview of the process

  • TCMD starts, league office open for teams to post cuts, player restructures, player extensions.   Unique to 2021 as there are several teams that are over the $205M cap.   Teams will need to make transactions to get under the cap.    Trades will also be allowed shortly after the league office opens.
  • Player tag deadline.  Franchise, RFA, ERFA
  • Contract offers to league wide RFA tagged players
  • UFA contract offers
    • UFA is done in rounds where each team has 4 total contracts they can offer to any UFA.  Up to 3 can be outside UFA and any of the 4 can be a re-sign of that teams own UFA.  Re-signing players during the process does come with an 8% boost in the contract offer when compared to outside team offers.
    • There are 12 rounds of UFA contract bidding.   For each subsequent round of UFA bidding, the UFA players expected average per year  (APY) salary drops by 10%.  So players still on the market have a lower minimum contract salary requirement.
    • UFA bidding rounds occur every 2-3 days
  • Rookie draft is schedule to start March 3rd with 40 minute time slots for picks.  there is a dead period from 11pm to 8 am
  • Trades can happen throughout the process including player and draft picks.  Though draft picks can't be traded until the Super Bowl is completed as the final draft order is not set until then.

GB is $5.1M over the salary cap. I believe that is including the rookie draft picks.

We need to do some transactions to get under the cap and create some space to be able to add some players in ERFA, RFA, UFA.

Restructure (4 players total allowed to restructure with cap savings = $15.264M)

Rodgers saves $9.080M on 2021 cap

ZSmith saves $4.880M on 2021 cap

PSmith saves $2.930M on 2021 cap

Turner saves $1.722M on 2021 cap

Amos saves $1.955M on 2021 cap

Extension (total of 3 players)

Adams saves $6.818M on 2021 cap

ZSmith saves $11.469M on 2021 cap

PSmith saves $6.47M on 2021 cap

We have others that can be done, but these are the big ticket /$$ changes

i'd say hold on to Love unless we get a deal that's for more than what we used value-wise to get him last year. rodgers inevitably gonna miss some time over the next three years at some point. keep the premium backup, wait for him to show what he can do... cash in after he gets some burn/hype

Pretty much this, you're not really getting the ROI you're looking for with pick #39 versus pick #26 there. I think you hold tight or seek a better package. Just not entirely sure this is the move at this moment. You're essentially not trusting your coaching staff to develop him by settling for this offer.
