The Future of the Jaguars - City Developments & News

This Lot J failing looks to be very bad as it pertains to the future of the Jaguars in Jacksonville. We'll see what they pivot to.

Obviously success on the field will go a long way, but the city has definitely got to start getting with the times.

Yeah this is not the best news. Curry failed the city’s pursuit of viability big time.

From the leadership, to the politics, to everything else. The city of Jacksonville is stuck in the past.

Unfortunate...I just don't see how this ends any way but poorly for the Jaguars long term future there.

Gotta love the “Lot J wasn’t going to keep the team” takes. Like yeah, of course that alone isn’t doing anything. But without a vibrant city surrounding the stadium, the team will never be viable there.

Exactly.

It also doesn't mean that the proposal was good, but if you want Khan to look at JAX as a long term home/option then upgrading/building a new stadium isn't doing it. The downtown is non-existent and there's nothing bringing people there. This just continues to delay building up and improving the area that desperately needs it.

Maybe the way Khan/Lamping was talking about the importance of this was just politics, but man idk.

The *good news* in this is that the deal was extremely favorable to the team and not so much for the city. If someone with a brain and any type of instincts can negotiate the deal on the city’s behalf, there’s a number of places that could see changes enough so to get enough votes to pass it.

This isn’t unexpected. The Jags have been circling the drain...why tie money to that? Win...increase your fan base...sell tickets...you have to give the city some assurance that it won’t be a guaranteed financial loss. I’d love to see downtown further rejuvenate. It is better than it was the last time I lived in Jax about 15 years ago...but we have a long way to go.
