Would adding Matthew Stafford make an already good team a Super Bowl contender?

He’s definitely the qb who has been given the worst hand over the last two decades. Sure, he had Calvin to throw to for a while but playing so long in detroit is a career wasted. I fully assume if he’d been on any other team of a higher caliber they would’ve made deep playoff runs, if not a sb.

Jim Plunkett had a not so glamorous career until he landed in Oakland, went on to win two SB's late in his career....

We might get the answer to the original question, Stafford wants out and the Lions will accommodate him

"The Matthew Stafford era in Detroit appears to be coming to an end.

After meetings in recent weeks in which Stafford expressed a desire for a fresh start, the Lions understood his position and plan to begin discussing trade options in the coming weeks for their star quarterback, per sources."

Depends on who has the most draft choices to give up...

SF @ 12 and NE @ 15 have the next highest picks after the Jets.

Stafford to NE just makes so much sense.  However SF giving up 12+ and then NE getting Jimmy G after the fact also makes a lot of sense.

Will be interesting to see whether or not Josh McDaniels leaves for a HC job.....Stafford in NE would certainly be an upgrade over Cam Newton....Not being a 49er's fan, I'd hate to see Stafford go there...

Has to be San Fran.... join his bro Kershaw out on the left coast. No other team makes sense. The Jimmy G experiment is over. Indy also a good fit but not as win ready as SF with a healthy Bosa.

NE can trade for Jimmy G as the last person said, trading down with SF and grabbing an extra 2nd round pick... if there are no QBs on the board.

Thanks, I actually just came to bump this thread. He should have a bunch of suitors.
