I'm guessing most Steeler fans are happy about this.

Ben's move now.  Fichtner was his hand-picked OC, and we'll see if he wants to deal with learning a new system or just retire.

hopes are he retires. Maybe this is how they get him to retire finally.  His last good season was when 4 seasons ago? Most athletes retire when it's time but in the NFL these QB's want to play into their 40's.

So is the translation of this that they are going to extend Big Ben to bring him back and lower the cap hit?

thats what i fear, in the good of saving cap space of course.

lets see if fichner gets another job at all anywhere in the nfl. I doubt it

Thank God "fart in a skillet" Fichtner is gone.

He was quite the embarrassment for our team.

But we still have "Beavus and Butt-head" Butler on defense.

Need to get rid of him and Tomlin right away.

Time for a complete rebuild.

Butler is a pretty good DC.   Nothing special, but he is suffice, at least.

Tomlin will get at least a few more years, for better or worse.

Not technically a firing, but reports are that his contract will not be renewed in Pittsburgh, which means the Steelers will be looking for a new offensive coordinator.

Don't you dare try to take this moment from Steelers Nation!

He was FIRED!!!! and thats all we got to say about that!!! 🤣

Butler was an absolute downgrade after having LeBeau for the previous 10 years.

Rooneys were lazy and frugal as always.  Just moving the next guy up from the payroll.  Never looking for anybody from the outside.

Tomlin should have been gone after we lost Super Bowl 45.  I've been saying this for years now.

But, he's got a job for life in Pittsburgh.  He's not going anywhere.

He can go 8-8 consecutively for the next 5 years (you know, "never having a losing season") and Rooney will keep him.

Hell, he can go under 500 for that same time span, and he'll still keep his job.

And, it's for very, very obvious reasons.

The Rooneys always do it the nice way.

"Well, we kind of ran out of money sooo...."

It's never going to be in the fashion of somebody like Jerry Jones (ousting somebody while they're already down and talking directly to the press about it).
