T-rade
With the first round of Free Agency officially over the PhilaLegodelphia Eagles are happy to welcome the new members to the Brick City (**** you Newark). From the Steelers joins Linebacker Avery Williamson on a 4-year deal worth $6.4m "The Linebacker position has been in need of a leader for years. With Avery moving further east he helps shore up that position by bringing a proven level of play that has been sorely missing since DeMeco Ryans left. It our belief that Avery will be a star throughout his tenure with us" From the Ravens comes Chris Board on a 2-year deal for just under $1m annually "Having Chris joining us helps the Linebacker unit by adding additional depth, but his real contribution is as a Pro Bowl special teams player. Our ST unit has been on a decline the last few years and by signing Chris we mean to show we are committed to rebuilding that 1/3 of the game" Joining us from the Colts is Ifeadi Odenigbo for $3.3m over 2 years "When Derek was traded it left an open spot in our DE rotation, with 11 sacks over the last two years as a rotational player we see Ifeadi as an emerging star and hopefully an heir for Graham when he hangs it up."
ny92mike
New York Giants ~inside the locker No Reserve Bids entered into negotiations at this time. Resign attempt failed: 0587 - Dalvin Tomlinson - 34DE Giants were hoping to quietly resign Dalvin Tomlinson, we expected a few people to be looking to land him but we really wasn't thinking it would happen on day one. We offered what we considered fair market value $68,000,000 for 5 years. However, Jaguars went big on the big man signing him to a 5 yr deal worth $76,000,000. Free Agency Bids UFA negotiations failed: 1260 - Joe Thuney - LG After trading to acquire center Ryan Jensen from Tampa Bay, we had high hopes on landing Joe with what we considered a solid contract of 5 yr/ $60,877,000. Not nearly enough to sign the most highlighted guard in free agency. We will be on the lookout to find a quality guard, be it free agency or back into the trade block. We are looking for a veteran guard that can start while our rookie gains more experience. UFA signed Edge Rusher 2499 - Yannick Ngakoue - 34OLB This signing was huge for the Giants, at 25 years old Yannick is still growing and developing into an elite pass rusher and signing a 5 year deal allows him to do that under a defensive coach that has really turned this defense around. His size and explosive first step to rush the passer is exactly what this Giants defense has been lacking and we're happy as hell to have him. 0970 - Haason Reddick - 34OLB In the same day of signing Ngakoue, the Giants boosted the pass rush even more by adding Reddick, some might consider Reddick going too early but we Giants fans got to know Reddick really well in our game against Arizona in week 14. In that single game against the Gmen, Haason mustered 5 sacks, 2 TFL, 6 QBHits and 3 FF, just having him on our roster improves the offensive line. Reddick doesn't have the power that Ngakoue has to bully his way to the quarterback, but he is really quick on his feet and can get really low coming around the tackle. He's also a quality pass defender when dropping back into coverage. Both of these edge rushers allow the Giants to give their opponents different looks at the line and with resigning Leonard Williams we feel that our defense just took the next step. MikeT14
FA Round 1 Results The Washington Football Team has made a decent splash to begin free agency. @MKnight82 and myself were a little worked up because the WR free agent market was thinner than expected. Allen Robinson, Kenny Golladay, Chris Godwin and TY Hilton were all franchised. That left Will Fuller V, Corey Davis, and JuJu as the 1A/1B options. We went hard after Corey Davis, and have signed him to a 5 year deal. There is an okay out after year 3 as well. We believe Corey, 26, will compliment Terry McLaurin quite well and give whoever is behind center a legit option to work with. Our second signing is Matt Milano, LB age 26, from the Buffalo Bills. We got Matt on a much more reasonable contract than expected. Frankly, I found it to be one of the better contracts for value given out. If we overpaid some for Davis, we got it back in Milano. Milano provides range and coverage at the position, and we feel incredible moving forward with our front seven now. He's signed to a reasonable 5 year deal that might need restructuring or redoing after year 2. Our final attempt (and unfortunately this time failure) at getting a FA is we went after Desmond King, CB from the Titans. He was heavily pursued however, and we were well short in our offer. We will continue to monitor the CB market for help. Finally, the most important piece - Nick Sundberg is back on a 2 year deal!
