Agree to disagree my man. I like the way we’ve historically built our team and feel like we’re trending towards a serious chance at a ring with the moves we’ve been making.

I’ll continue liking it when AJ Green on the cheap becomes our wal-mart brand Anquan Boldin and we win the Super Bowl with an elite defence where Mandrews and Marquise with actual coaches (Culley stinks) replicate a run like Gronk and AB ;)just did. We can all come together and celebrate then.

I'm a little iffy on how comps work when you sign a UFA. We're currently in line for 2 thirds for Judon and Yannick. If we sign AJ Green. That technically goes against the comp formula right? We'd bump down to one?

I believe it would depend on the money involved, no?

either way - if it ends up being Golden Tate and not AJ then I’ll let you guys panic a bit, but until then I’m trusting the process aha. For all we know a dawg gets cut this summer too. AND we’re sitting on a golden trade ticket with Orlando Brown.

Lamar will likely get a new toy for you guys, but seeing him get slammed on his head and out of the game in Buffalo last year is something this franchise never wants to see again. We had major wounds in the trenches and needed to stop the bleeding as our utmost priority, and we have taken good steps in doing that.

Now that we’re not dead at offensive line and defensive line/edge, this is when we start talking about new toys.

It'd depend on a number of things, the biggest of which is the contract we signed AJ Green (or any other FA who wasn't cut by their previous team) to - anything that is closer in money to the contract Ngakoue signed would mean we'd lose the comp pick for him

One thing to note - according to OverTheCap (who do comp predictions that are made publicly the best), we're only slated to receive 4th round comp picks for Judon/Ngakoue right now

My hope is that Bowser takes a leap in his pass rushing as he’s asked to do it more. Unless we add a plus situational pass rusher on the edge, Tyus is likely to eat up some of the rush reps that Judon and yannick took last year. To the eye test, Bowser seems to be at least competent rushing the passer. I could see him posting somewhere between 6-10 sacks and still providing plus coverage. I also think he seems to be just below a plus run stopper. Really I view him as a great piece to a defense that values versatility.

Can imagine. It was assumed that Corey Davis would get roughly $15m and he had to settle for roughly $3m less than that.

Probably has a lot to do with the last three draft classes for WRs being pretty darn strong. Teams probably see it even less like a legit building block spot and something closer to the RB and TE position.

While it’s true that Jonnu Smith got signed to a very quality deal, the TE market is basically what it is at this point IMO. The top market TEs will be worth roughly $12m-$15m atm. The WR market for guys who aren’t legitimate apex predators might start going back down just a smidge. Hard to say with the potential new TV money, but I I’d suspect most of that will be going towards the QBs and their inflated contracts moving forward. So your other WRs might also see themselves capped off at that $12m-$15m spot.

So if signed at the right time, we might be able to retain Mark Andrews for roughly $13-$14m on an extension and retain Hollywood for something similar around this time next offseason, assuming he doesn’t revert back into Soulja Boy during the 2021 season.

Random, but the thought just occurred to me that If a new era QB decided to do what Brady did and take less, the QB market could potentially inflate up to $50m annually. A guy could “take less” in the Brady mold, still be at like $30m annually, still make a crapton of money and really put his team in a competitive advantage over his contemporaries. I doubt many, if any QBs will consider doing that, but if they do... such a QB could certainly see his team establish a dynasty squad as well.

That should say “the” WR1 because for my money there’s only one WR1 on the market...Golladay.

Theres a whole lot of “2s” out there looking for “1” money and that’s why the market hasn’t moved for them. Guys like Juju and Samuel are gonna come away from this FA period pretty disappointed by all accounts.

My guess is we'll see one more signing at either WR, IOL, or safety (Malik Hooker?), and then based on how much cap space we have left we'll go in on that Houston/Dunlap/Clowney/Ingram crew of older pass-rush specialist EDGES and see if we have room to fit one in. Hard to tell what the market is for those guys though, I could see that process dragging out till after the draft.

First page is updated for those that want to see the roster overview. I'm opting to go with more of a streamlined version this year. Well, as much as you can with typing out rosters this size. Just a straight roster view and who's left out of the team's own free agents.

Give me Rodney Hudson and Hassan Reddick and I’m cool... we can draft everything else we need

Reddick against the New York Giants last December: 5 sacks, 3 FF's, 6 QB hits

Reddick in the other 63 games of his career: 15 sacks, 6 FF's, 26 QB hits

That comparison isn't completely fair because he's been moved around a lot and I believe only got moved back to EDGE in 2020 after playing mostly as an off-ball LB in 18 and 19. And he does seem to be a perfect fit skillset-wise in terms of what the ideal EDGE defender needs to be able to do in Wink's defense. But even within his breakout 2020 season there are some red flags for me, both in terms of how much of his production is based on a MONSTER outlier game against the Giants as well as an unsustainable conversion of QB pressures into sacks (12.5 sacks but just 16 QB hits).

if the price was right he'd be a really interesting option but if he is trying to cash in on a big contract year breakout similar to what Trey Hendrickson or Carl Lawson got paid I want nothing to do with him.

I think his contract size will surprise some people. I think he's going to get nabbed up for good money 10+. I could be wrong but I just don't see us in the Reddick hunt.
