Just my preference, but I’d prefer more youth and athleticism in the trenches. The secondary is already going to be pretty young.

I’d like that too. But I’m not sure that’s really an option. I doubt a mid 20s elite pass rusher will be available. That’s why I’d rather sign Miller or watt to a 1 or 2 year deal, get the most out of those guys and wait until one does become available.

Why? Watt can be just as deadly stopping the run. Watt last year was the most doubled and tripled team edge rusher in the league. Garrett was top5 in that. Guess what, one of those have to give.

watt is still too good to just limit him. He had more tackles and TFL than Garrett last year and I believe one less QB hit

Because I would want to cut his snaps down dramatically to preserve him for the playoffs, and his greatest value to us is as an interior pass rusher. He can play the run well, I just don't want to waste his precious snaps on run plays. Having him healthy for the playoffs is the top priority.

His greatest value is as an edge defender. A guy who can stop the pass and the outside ride. He would Be huge in stopping Lamar Jackson because of his ability to control the outside edge.

do you want to play Watt as a DT?

having everyone healthy for the playoffs is a top priority. there is no reason to dramatically cut his snap count but to better manage it. No need to have Garrett and Watt playing any where near 80% of the snaps. Unless they want it

We can also say Watt will see a decrease in wear and tear because one he will be seeing a lot less double and triple teams. He also could see less snaps. Him and Garrett. Garrett and Watt could see more rest during the game because we know their will be at least one legit DE on the field. Could allow them to see more pitch counters in the 1st 2nd and 3rd QTR and unless them both in the 4th.

Im just not going to handicap Watt into just being a3rd down specialist.

Short has only played 5 games in 2 years. He is going to be 32 I believe. You wanna talk about a dude who ate up a lot of wear and tear

Yeah, Watt has tremendous value as a 1st and 2nd down player, I just would have him on a pitch count, kinda similar to how Garrett was on this year. It would be awesome if we could have a young twitchy guy that can get some meaningful snaps behind those guys too.

As far as Short, I think the Panthers did that by choice, kinda like how the Bengals did with Geno Atkins going younger at the position. But I would love to trade for a young or a stud in his prime or draft a stud. If we do get Watt/Miller or any significant piece opposite of Garrett, whoever is inside will benefit greatly

There has to be something about him nobody ever wants to keep him

Don’t care  I want him as a 3rd safety not to carry the franchise. Carolina wanted cap space the safety market is flooded with good safeties. So they probably think they can get a cheaper one

Also probably means Watt going to packers they cut Wagner as well. Gained $10 million cap space

Well they are still over the cap by $10m. Don’t forget they have to sign their draft class as well. They have a couple key UFA they need to sign like their starting center and others. So they need to keep cutting a lot of pieces.

IMO would you want to go to a team who has to cut a few starters or let a few starters walk, so they can sign you while you want to also win? I think the Packers are only in the race if he decides to sign a very very team friendly deal
