We won but... disgusting officiating vent thread

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said he and his staff will review the game and pick out plays to submit to the NFL for a review of the officiating. But that's not because of Thursday's lopsided penalty margin; it's something the Birds -- and most NFL teams -- do every week.

"We look at the game, and whether it was a call against us, or maybe a call wasn't made that we felt should have been made, we send those in," Pederson said Friday. "We send those clips into the league. Every team does this Monday, which is -- today for us is like a Monday. I just want to get clarification. That's all we're trying to do. We're just trying to see if there was just something -- whether the penalty should have happened or shouldn't have happened."

Did some math to compare Eagles penalty numbers for Pete Morelli's last two games with us vs our respective seasonal averages

Quote

In 2016 at Detroit,

The Eagles were called for 14 penalties and 111 yards. They averaged the rest of the season 6.7 Penalties for 73 yards per game.
(7.3 more penalties and 38 more yards than the season average)

The Lions were called for 2 penalties for 18 yards. Their opponents averaged the rest of the season 6 Penalties for 51 yards per game.
(4 fewer penalties and 33 yards fewer than the season average)

This season vs against the Panthers

The Eagles were called for 10 penalties for 126 yards. They average the season at  7 penalties for 65 yards.
(3 more penalties for 61 more yards than the season average)

The Panthers were called for 1 penalty for 1 yard, The average the rest of the season for Eagles opponents is 6.6 Penalties for 58 yards.
(5.6 fewer penalties for 57 fewer yards)

Yeah given those numbers it's clearly biased, or just terrible officiating. I'd like to know the previous two games Morelli has reffed for us so I can do those compared to seasonal averages as well.

NFL ref union responds....

Quote

“Claims like these demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowledge about NFL officiating,” Scott Green, the executive director of the NFLRA, said in response to the criticism of Morelli’s crew over its performance in last week’s Eagles-Panthers game. “The passion of NFL fans and teams are a big part of what makes the game so great. However, it’s no excuse for the irresponsible and baseless claims we’ve seen lately.”

F that guy.

The crew is awful and they know it, but they can't just throw their co-workers under the bus. Just like the NFLPA's association defends it's players no matter what, the NFLRA does the same for refs.

Hell officiating as a whole has been particularly bad this season. College football really doesn't have issues like this.
